Uhm, nor does the Reserve Intel community. I continued to be baffled by Officer recruiters for DCO touting to candidates how important it is to have "language skills." In my years in the Reserve Intel community I never witnessed any use of the language abilities of the Intel officers I knew. And these were folks who were fluent Farsi, Chinese, etc. The Intel community brief even has "Critical language skills" abilities listed as a valued achievement prior to O4.

Which is indeed baffling. When I was exploring IWC DCO, recruiters were going nuts that I knew some Arabic / Spanish. Then I started formally applying for EDO, and my OR and a couple other recruiters I spoke with were saying it could help a lot with the application despite the fact that some skill or achievement related to "critical language skills" is nonexistent in the EDO community.

sorry im confused sculpin - are you on this IWC DCO board or are you waiting on an EDO board?

I was selected for EDO a couple months ago. Since then it's been the fun long wait to start moving forward, but it's been a good time to get good at running again.

So, I'm the only applicant active in this thread right now! ha. I appreciate the information and open forum discussion from all of the experienced sailors!

HEY - there ya go! Its always funny, every board you will have people that watch these threads and "lurk" but never share advice, knowledge, or guidance. Then after the board they will jump on here just to let you know they got selected! ha

the biggest reason this site is awesome - are the ppl who stay after selection and continue to help others through the process. It is pretty remarkable it you thing about it.

With the national board scheduled to meet today, does anyone know of an expected timeline for the results and/or next steps?

Best of luck to all!

Some as active and just don't have anything useful to say so read and keep quiet. I wouldn't say your the only applicant active just the most active in posting.

Alright... which one of you dudes got the selection letter with all the selectee names on it?
Lol

Last 2 years the results were released about 7 days after the board. If the last 2 years are of any indication expect results anywhere from Wed at the earliest to next Friday depending on your recruiter.

i thought i responded to this question last week! ha. I think the selectees with recruiters that are "on it" will find out tomorrow. My recruiter is taking leave this week, so i may not hear for awhile. I agree with khestergk - don't get all intense if you don't hear until thursday or friday.

Sometimes the west coast crew gets it first... that have 3 more hours!

any RUMIINT on numbers of packages and number of selectees?!

I think I said before they were expecting 16 IP. 15 CW and a massive 152 Intel. But those numbers are skewed and are for the next 2-3 boards combined. Do not quote me on those numbers they either, that's like 3rd hand information. However, with the limited amount of applicants this board your chances in my humble and personal opinion are higher on this board than the last 3.
