When I got my first FS last year it just said you have to report on (Insert Date). You are joinging an elite yada yada congratulations with more yada yada...start a physical training program.
And thats were I thought the FS was the "orders" they referred to. And I totally agree. We are planning on having a dinner the night before we report in and some of us will be staying at the Navy Lodge there on the base.

Totally understand how you feel my friend. For the most part, our class is FAIRLY small, so I'm almost wondering if you and others who were selected this last boards will be in our class.

Yea I am thinking they will just because of the amount of people they selected. It sounded (then again its a forum rittled with scuttlebutt) as if there were 200+ selectees so that's quite a bit to spread out. Also, I just took a look at the Oct 6 date and that one doesnt end until 10 Jan because of the holidays I would assume. Id say screw the holidays and give me my butter bars please haha

Oh okay, then I am wrong. Bad gouge, bad!

So is our "orders" what give us specific instruction on when to be there, what time, what location, etc? I had just figured our FS is what that was. I apologize.

Again, according to my OR, your orders will be what you need to get on base and also fill out travel claims. Otherwise I am not sure exactly what other purpose they will serve.

Also I was told that its not only a good idea to get there a day early, it is now mandatory to arrive one day prior to your check in date.

I look forward to seeing you guys there though, because it will mean my indoc phase has come to a close.

What class are you in? As for orders, I'm WAYYYYYYYYYY too early to get orders right now as I'm 6 weeks out. I cannot make any travel arrangements until I fall within the 30 day window for leaving anyhow.

Thanks for the info.

Yes. Your orders are the important paperwork, not your final select letter. Your orders will tell you what time to show up in Newport, and once you have orders, you will be able to arrange a flight if you need to, and you will need your orders to stay in government lodging. Make multiple copies of your orders. Your final select letter is a nice thing to have, but your orders are what allow you to check into your command and get all of your pay and allowances. They are essential. (Fun fact, I never received a final select letter. My recruiter told me I'd been selected, I showed up at the office and signed all the paperwork, got sworn in, and got my orders a few days later.)

was told that I will be in this class today... My 29th bday is Jan 1, so this is the last class I can get into before my age disqualifies me for SNA. I was PRO-REC for SNA and SNFO on the 15 July Board

Wow, that's cutting it close! Glad the Navy saw fit to assign you to the last possible OCS class for you to beat your deadline. Congrats on ProRecs, best of luck in the program... and, Lordy, don't give them any reason to "roll" you in Newport if you can help it, you only have ~2 weeks to spare!

Yep! And you should probably at least let his class officer know that you are borderline as well. Always helps to have someone looking out for you.

Just explain that "I have to graduate" vice "I don't want to be rolled!" You probably won't get rolled, not many people do compared to what it used to be. Don't make a huge deal, but don't let it turn into a situation where something does happen and they say "why didn't you tell me?!" Everyone there wants you to succeed, so I wouldn't sweat it too much.
