Unfortunately I'm 28 just tuned in March and it's ironic to think aviation of all choices would be my best opportunity I would think that would have been the least likely but thanks I'll likely look into enlisting and even potentially the Marines if I have an opportunity to be an officer through them

I'm 26 and had a DWI in 2014 and am shipping out for aviation on the enlisted side in Nov (as an E3). They told me cryptology was also on the table if that interests you. Unfortunately the rating I wanted (HM) was not available because of the DWI, as well as many others. Best of luck man.

BUMP. Advancement is WIDE open for these two rates. Coming intel would be solid as well. If you have any questions on the intel community feel free to hit me up.

INTEL is a really good community for Enlisted or Officer. I am currently a CTT2 (Proc'd Y for SWO). I have been in a little bit over 3 years and advanced really quick. All CT rates are good. Intelligence Specialist (IS) rate isn't bad either, just be good with power point and briefing CO's/CAPT/ Admirals. As an IS you do a lot of different things. Be an imagery analyst, direct support... etc.

Advancement for Corpsman is TERRIBLE. In my post right above this one, CT is a great rating. If you can do it, CTN is probably #1, then CTT and CTR.

Advancement for Corpsman is TERRIBLE.

I can vouch for this statement. As far as advancement goes the quotas from E4-E5 and E5-E6 can literally be LESS THAN 7% for YEARS at a time. I was a corpsman for almost 8 years and EAS'd as an E5. Most pick STAR programs to pick up rank just because it's so difficult to pick up in the HM community. I have known HM's that spend 5 years and get out as an E3.

I wan't able to sign off on HM due to a previous DWI. I'm shipping out as an AT.

I understand that I may be looking a little bit beyond my front sight but does anyone have any current updated gouge on BDOC after OCS and most importantly is that where ship selection will occur? Thanks again!

I am curious too. Last I knew (2 years ago when I was on a destroyer) SWO went to the ship as an intermediate duty station until bdoc, then officially checked in.

I read on here somewhere you pick orders half way through OCS. Looking for official gouge though!

You won't know your BDOC class until when you get your first ship ORDERS at OCS.

Got denied. Not sure why, I had no waivers. Pretty high GPA, 55 OAR. Maybe I need LOR's from veterans/active duty, of which I had none. I'm retaking the OAR and shooting for a score in the 60s.
