I just got scheduled to rejoin from a DOR request; was in previous class that started APR 23 (Class 13-17). Will be rolling into H class tomorrow, and seeing you guys when I roll back in to your class.
So if you want insider info from someone that just went thru the first couple weeks hit me up on here. I will be able to respond tonight but will probably lose phone tomorrow. Good luck Class 14-17!

Do you know our class Chain of Command? Because it would be great to be able to start memorizing that.

First four I will not know until you guys get here; because I am not privy to that info and it is different for every class, but here are the rest.

5th Lt. Cmdr hill USN

6th Cmdr Brown USN

7th Cmdr Carino USN

8th Captain Saveguex (might have mispelled) USN

9th Rear Admiral L.H. Evans USN

10th Rear Admiral White USN

11th Vice Admiral Burke USN

12th Admiral Richardson USN

13th the honorable Mr. Stakley

14th the honorable Mr. Mattis USMC ret.

15th the honorable Mr. Trump

I recommend getting rank structure down over anything else. You will be expected to know, for RLP, description of collar devices, sleeve insignia etc. VERBATIM.

You will have ample opportunities to study when you get here so don't worry too much about it.

Also something I was not told which is useful to know ahead of time: if you are flying in on Saturday bring about 120 dollars for cab and call orange cab once you land because they have base access. Bring an additional 80 dollars on your debit card to pay for a one night stay in hotel on base. All of this is refundable just make sure you get receipt from cab, and receipt from hotel desk the next day on your way into starting OCS. .

Bring a printed out packet of appendix b you can use this during the first week to study. It helps alot, trust me you will thank me later
What if we make flash cards of appendix B info, can we bring those? Also thank you for the chain of command, that's a HUGE leg up!

Yes I have seen alot of people using flashcards.
Also I STRONGLY recommend nice boot socks like Fox River boot socks. I have blisters all over my feet and they do not sell them at NEX on base.

Do we need to identify the person and their position only, or also correlate it to the number listed?

I will just give you an example of the format, You will say, "the seventh person in my chain of command is... Executive Officer, Commander Carino United States Navy."
You are expected to say position, rank, name, and what branch of the military they are affiliated with at the end.

To go of off what @Abop said, I was talking with one of my buddies yesterday who was giving me some gouge on OCS, and he told me that once you list of the particular individual in the chain of command to be prepared to know what collar device shoulder board and or sleeve insignia corresponds with their rank too. Just something to keep in mind as you go through studying the chain of command
