I forgot to mention. Hi, I'm Tim. I'm from Maine/new Hampshire. I toggle between the two. I'm a swo guy, looking to do what I can for this beautiful country we all call home. I've been working on a passenger vessel for four years now as a mate and maintenance hand. I love the water, and of course boating. I lived on a lake this summer while working on thee boat on the ocean. Hard life.. I know. Hope you're all ready for some hell and some fun!

I was talking with an Ensign that just graduated ocs at the end of October. He said their class started with 90 people, a few rolled back, but over 20 dropped on request. Can you believe that?? We could've been in there earlier! Anyhow, how's the memorization and such going for you all?

Woah! 20 DOR?! That would suck. Go through this whole process to get to OCS and then just leave....

I've started on the memorization but it is a rather slow process!

Any advice on how to survive the cold? Buy a woobie and hope it protects you from the chill (and the occasional DI/Chief)?

I heard rumor that all travel expenses are comp'd. But, like I said, this is just rumor. I'll do some digging to see how much of it is true.

What's gotten me through Ice Fishing season (yes, that's a season in Maine) is thinking you're really on a beach in Hawaii. Think warm, be warm.

Is anyone else feeling like they can spend hours on the internet trying to find out every possible thing about OCS?? Training mentally to expect the unexpected or not to be worried about the unknown is so much harder than training physically!

Nah, not really. I mean I'm prepping with appendix b, but not really too worried about the mental part of it. That I feel like will be a breeze after week one. I could just be too nonchalant though.

This sounds about exactly like me! The mental prep is definitely worse than the physical. And its what I'm much more worried about.
