I checked in with my recruiter to see if final selection letter had come in. He informed me that before I receive anything, I need to sign a letter denouncing my dual citizenship. Both of my parents have dual citizenship. I do not. I indicated this on the NASIS form. Anybody have experience with this?

Yes, there are some countries in which if your parents are both foreign born you are considered dual citizen.

I was born in the U.S. and my mother was born in the U.S., but my father was foreign born. Both parents have U.S. and Israel citizenship. The form to sign includes the sentence, "I have destroyed my (Name of Country) passport on (date of destruction) in support of my decision to renounce my citizenship," but this isn't possible because I don't have one.

Anyone familiar with the turn around time for fingerprints? I went in to MEPS yesterday to re-do my fingerprints. NASIS was down and I was unable to sign the form to begin the 'investigation.'

Update on the renunciation of non-existent citizenship. My OR inquired with their CO and was able to forward me a letter template that better suited my situation:

"Dear Sir/Ma'am,
Effective the date of this letter, I, [your name here], respectfully and voluntarily renounce my eligibility for citizenship, along with all benefits and obligations which it may have imparted, from the country of [name of country].
Having been born to [nationality] parents, I understand that I have the right to apply for [nationality] citizenship. As of today, I do not, to my knowledge, have [nationality] citizenship. Nevertheless, I am voluntarily renouncing my right to apply for [nationality] citizenship for the sole purpose of obtaining a commission as an officer in the United States Navy and only through the duration of my enlistment in the United States Military.

Very Respectfully,

[your signature] + [witness name/title] + [witness signature/date signed]

Send all this to the embassy via certified mail and request a return receipt.

Hopefully, I should receive security clearance and fin-sel letter soon.

You only needed to write the first sentence. Everything else is just fluff. The witness part is unnecessary as well.
