Hi all,

New here so first post. I separated after 4 years AD navy, and just recently graduated from University. Now I'm trying to get an SNA or SNFO slot. Took the ASTB a couple days ago for the second time. First time got 55 5/5/4. From reading this forum I can see that its not competitive. Second time around I scored 47 5/7/6. I graduated with a 3.56 in Criminal Justice from a pac-12 school. How are my chances and is it worth having a 3rd try? I am under the impression that doing so could potentially lock me into worse scores. I am 27 and have already been approved for an age waiver, so that is not a concern.
The deadline for the spring aviation board is 13 APR, so you have time to study. If you're confident you can increase those scores with another try, I would retake it. Otherwise, try applying to the next board, and if you don't get picked up, go from there.

The boards care most about the GPA and ASTB. Perhaps some folks were able to get selected with a high GPA but boards have no problem taking low GPA, high ASTB than vice versa.

Boards don’t care about clubs sports extra stuff. They maybe spend a min most looking at your application.

Really? Only a minute to review everything? LORS, GPA, ASTB, etc? Interesting.

I'm convinced they spread all the maybes out and cut a chicken's head off and wherever it falls is who gets picked up.
Not a bad theory at all, lol. I have seen some interesting stats get picked up or passed over compared to others, but as always, we never know the whole story.

Can anybody give me some example (or examples) of logs questions I might run into on the exam? I'm really trying to study everything I possibly can just in case I get it on the test but I see less of the top level harder stuff (matrices, logs, etc).

TBH, after taking it, just know the log rules and how they work. I did not do that well overall but I know I crushed the math portion. You will at most get 1 or 2 log questions if you are killing it and even then, in the grand scheme of things, it shouldn't matter if you get them wrong or right because you made it thus far haha

But look around. There are examples on this forum. you just need to look.

I would say apply with what you got if you don’t get selected then retake it. Your 2nd score is good!

@RUFiO181 Are the scores we get on the official document from command our actual scores or rounded? For example I got a 6 on PFAR. Is it possibly a 6.4 or 5.6 but rounded to a 6 on documentation? Or is it just a straight 6? If that makes sense.
