I went to MEPS today and failed the Depth test pretty bad. Surprise surprise this happened. but I’m actually pretty disappointed and feel gutted right now.
Do they allow you to take it again if you want? Does it require to get PRK if you want to take it again?
Is there other options of depth tests instead of the 5 dots one?

Yes, I did ask my recruiter and he said “Nope, Nope and Nope. Are you interested in anything else otherwise we’re wasting our time?” I’m really hoping what he said isn’t true.

You can retake an eye test at a military clinic, but if there isn't one in your area you are SOL. MEPS won't allow an DP retake because you're technically "qualified" to join the military. They don't accommodate to special programs.

I’m perfectly okay with driving my self back to MEPs like I did today (hour drive) to retake it. How do I go about scheduling that re-test if my recruiter is adamant that I’m not allowed to retest? Obviously I wanna be respectful and not come out and say “Your wrong!”

meh, worst case scenario, we die.
Taking the ASTB again tomorrow morning. Much more comfortable with the math thanks to all of the gouge on here. Scored 47 5/6/5 first time. Lets see how much better I can do! Wish me luck!

Oh wait I think I just understood what you’re saying. MEPS isn’t a military clinic. I have to go to a clinic to retest. Which yes, I don’t believe there are any remotely near Grand Rapids Michigan. Well shit.

You’re not reading my post. More than likely, MEPS WILL NOT allow a retake because you’re “qualified” to join the Navy. You passed the entire meps physical.

Good luck. You hoping to get a packet together for the spring board?

I was able to retake mine in December of 2016. Literally got every single line right the second time... Not sure if they changed it but my recruiter made it happen.

How did you practice for the second time? I didn’t even get past line B on the first one but I know I have depth perception. Did you take it at MEPS or a military clinic?

I went to a civilian optometrist to make sure I wouldn't be wasting my time with a retest. Their test was different, but I wowed them when I got all of them right which gave me the confidence for a retest. I think the biggest thing for me was that I had a 3 hour drive the night before right after a long day, and then I only got an hour of sleep. I only made it to the B line my first time too. My recruiter was able to reschedule it at MEPS without any issues. Just take your time, blink, and if your really don't have DP issues, they'll stand out.

Yes Sir,

Getting my personnel record from NPC to get my prior enlisted evals is proving to be the hardest pain out of everything. My OR said the board is in April, so that should give me time to be able to sort out any hiccups along the way. Just need to get the scores to be competitive. Hoping my prior enlisted and leadership experience is enough to make up for average scores.

Just got back from the office with my new scores in hand. Old scores were 47 5/6/5. New scores are 52 7/9/7! My OAR is still pretty average but I knocked the rest of it out of the park in my opinion. I think I might stand a chance to be competitive this coming board!
