Not to hijack your thread too much but how long did it take from your acceptance from board to your OCS date? I'm currently at board for SWO..If I'm selected I'm curious about how long it would take before I'm off to OCS. I graduated college and I'm currently jobless due to graduating. ( I had one of those nifty student positions). I'm curious about how long I should plan for. Thanks!

No worries! I would check Final Select Purgatory to see the wait times for SWOs that are still hanging around. I think there are still some from the February board waiting to class up. I would try to get a restaurant job or something, that seemed to work out for a few people waiting in purgatory.

I went to the board June 30, got pro rec y by early july and got my FINSEL a week after that for my class date Sept 6. I was a rare case however. Think 2-6 months after the board to be leaving for OCS is a good approximation. It depends on what the navy needs at the time.

There isn't much going on with this thread, but to answer the question about the projected graduation date for those of you who are still checking this site, it IS currently slated for 25 November, the day BEFORE Thanksgiving. I am LT Fitzgerald, one of your Class Officers. Please travel safely getting here and let me know if there are any last-minute questions before you arrive.

I just wanted to say thanks for the heads up and clarification. It will be nice to officially tell my parents to plan on the 25th of November instead of giving them a "it may be this date or a different date." I'm sure we all still have questions, I will let you know if anything big comes to mind. I'm just anxious for it to begin and to especially get the first week out of the way.

Good day LT. I will be attending the 8 November 2015 class for OCS. My OR has been unable to give me an answer as to when my expected graduation date would be due to the holidays. He is also unable to let me know how the holiday schedule will be. I have read on this page that we will have a choice to go home for either Christmas or New Years. We would be allowed to go in the hole for leave days. I will be staying there regardless, but was wondering if I would be able to make a trip to New York for New Years which is under 250 miles away meaning I would not need to take leave I understand. My question is; what is the holiday schedule through thanksgiving and Christmas? When should I anticipate a graduation date to let my eager family know, and would I be allowed to go to New York if I choose to stay at OCS during holidays?

Thank you in advance!

I had the brief today with your future Commanding Officer of Officer Training Command Newport and the question explicitly came up and was discussed. We're still looking at a 25 Nov graduation/commissioning. I, along with your entire Chain of Command fully understand the added difficulty of travel during this time. We encourage you and your families to stay in the Newport area for the holiday if it is feasible, but encourage smart planning ahead of time for any road travel that weekend. This is, after all, the busiest travel weekend of the year. Please feel free to contact me at Andrew.P.Fitzgerald@navy.com if any further issues arise.

Since I am not and will not be a part of your Facebook group for reasons clearly and strictly delineated in the OTCN SOP, I kindly ask that the information I have put out be passed down to those future Candidates that are a part of the group. As far as @Joey H goes, my apologies are in advance. I am much more concerned with my class, 03-16 and can't speak much for your future class. From talks with my Chain of Command, we are still working out the logistics. No guarantees will be made. Please understand from day one the expectations and demands of OCS. Much like the Fleet, we will make attempts to accommodate holiday plans, but only if we may do so in a manner that still meets our training objectives and ultimately the Needs of the Navy.
