    DCO Supply Chances and Selections

Recruiters will have diversity target goals in terms of applicants but that’s where it ends. The intent is more diverse applicants leading to more diversity selections by the board. But being a diversity candidate doesn’t give you a plus up for selection.

IWC DCO success strategies for reconsideration in subsequent cycles

Actual work experience and skills / certifications related to the respective DCO program is key. I cannot emphasize this enough. When I was doing DCO recruiting, I couldn’t tell you how many applicants who thought they met or even exceeded the program authorization requirements when in fact...

    Mental Health Waiver - Likelihood

You’re missing the points. Step 1 is going to see your PCM, discuss the diagnosis / current condition and see if you can be considered and diagnosed fully cleared and no longer needing medication. Step 2: If there’s a plan, be off medication for at least 12+ months. Step 3: Apply and submit...

    Mental Health Waiver - Likelihood

You need to be fully cleared by a medical professional (i.e. not you) and off meds for a certain period of time (usually 1-2 years min) in order to be considered for a waiver. Anything else than that will likely be an automatic med DQ.

Disclaimer: My response comes as a non-13XX, but very familiar with the PERS-4 (detailers) process. Understand you are trying to map things out, but really the Achilles heel is going to be if you can extend to MSR or have to fulfill your final obligation time during a disassociated sea tour...

The Eyes have it - All things Vision-related

If you are DQ'd, you can always submit documentation that shows the condition has been corrected and you are now within the guidelines. If you have a missing limb, hypothetically, something like that will probably permanently DQ you for the rest of your life. However, things like vision...

The Eyes have it - All things Vision-related

My recommendation would be to get the MEPS medical exam and go from there. If you are cleared, you're good. If you are not qualified for aviation BUT can be corrected through surgery, etc. then get it done, get healed/cleared and then submit the paperwork.

    OCS 08APR2024 SNA/SNFO BOARD

I wouldn’t try to link USNA or NROTC service selection with OCS boards. At least for USNA, it’s typically high (~85%) midshipmen get their first preference.

True, however poor interview scores could sink all of that.
  25. FormerRecruitingGuru

    DCO Supply Chances and Selections

The interviews I would argue are the biggest weight for the DCO boards. Bear in mind, a resume isn't an official/governing document and applicants can easily "pad" work experience, job titles, accomplishments, etc. that might not even be true. DCO board members are 100% aware of this and have...

    Exemption to Policy

The waiver limits are already pretty high. Asking to waive that via an ETP is a very heavy and challenging ask. From a community management standpoint, you are essentially retirement eligible in 10 years once you commission, that is a very big risk because the supply corps community (and...

  32. FormerRecruitingGuru

    OCS 08APR2024 SNA/SNFO BOARD

To clarify for BDCP and OCS you apply for the specific designator/s of choice. For NROTC and USNA, you submit a preference sheet but you still may be assigned for another designator based on needs of the Navy.
  33. FormerRecruitingGuru

    OCS 08APR IWC Board

    The latter is never disclosed
  34. FormerRecruitingGuru

    OCS 08APR2024 SNA/SNFO BOARD

BDCP is more competitive because there's limited spots and it's shared with various designators. It is very possible to be not selected for BDCP but get selected for OCS based on the same stats.
  35. FormerRecruitingGuru

    OCS 08APR2024 SNA/SNFO BOARD

No, that is not correct. Applicants are medically reviewed during the application process, otherwise if they're not physically qualified they are not allowed to apply.

Board results don't list specific feedback on why applicants don't get selected, similar to when you receive a job rejection email. You are only told yes or no.
