Just to reiterate, DodMERB is a completely different organization than NAMI. It's good news to hear you got your waiver. Make more copies of your record than you know what to do with and store them in different places. The day you show up for your initial flight physical with a flight doc show...
The F/A-18D's are used as trainers. At 106 every single one, including the few ancient F/A-18B's, are not not setup for WSO's to fly in back (there are no Navy hornet WSO's). The back seat has a stick and throttles rather than two hand controllers. They're used just like F/A-18F's for rhino guys...
I have a wavier for rhabdo that I got in OCS. I got diagnosed with it, was med down for three months, then classed back up and commissioned. For my case I didn't get NPQ'ed until I showed up to NAMI in Pensacola to get an admin upchit. The flight doc in Newport didn't think rhabdo disqualifying...

Check out the NAMI waiver guide here...
Back when I went through some lady searched the FAA certificate holder registry for everyone's name. If you have any certificate, expired or not, your name and address show up. Getting caught in a useless lie is the first way to highlight yourself. The best advice I can give for all of flight...
If you are in aviation, NAMI is above MEPS. I went through MEPS just fine and later got NPQ'ed at NAMI while at OCS. Seeing as I just winged it worked out for me in the end. I knew many guys who went through MEPS just fine to show up, be NPQ'ed for vision and either refused to redesignate or...
I want to make sure I understand you. I will be able to wear black bellevilles when the day comes I have to wear the NWU? The issued black boots are driving me nuts and I have been contemplating ordering the bellevilles. The only thing holding me back is the fact that brown boots get issued in...
If you are getting a civilian medical I assume you plan on doing some civilian flying. I doubt the FAA will find anything "new" with you that a flight doc would not have found. I'm a medical nightmare with plenty of medical headaches when it comes to paperwork (FAA and Navy). One scenario that...
I've never heard of that happening. I think it would take extraordinary circumstances for a BDCP guy to go to Great Lakes before even arriving to OCS. If one were to have a horrible semester they could avoid a lot of trouble by keeping their recruiter informed.
Seeing as you don't have a dental record and no one will have any idea who you are and what BDCP is I can imagine you will spend countless hours talking to many people and get nothing accomplished.
Just explaining further, attrite or DOR out of OCS and you are required to go enlisted.
Being pro-rec for NFO does not mean you have a flight physical. MEPS only screens you for a commissioning. You do not receive a flight physical until the beginning of OCS (unless for some reason you go to...
Start investing a fixed amount on a regular basis. Investing early, especially now when stuff is cheap and you can afford a long wait, will payoff big time in the future.
It's because SNFO's PCS while SNA's do not. This should make you happy. Typically anyone is better than the BOQ. The 10 days is for TLA (Temporary Lodging Allowance?) to allow you to find a much nicer place where you can do whatever you want (and get BAH).
If I remember correctly the CBQ at Newport is a combination of many buildings. Sure, the BOQ and BEQ is combined, but it appeared to just be a BOQ and BEQ with one front office. They had multiple buildings scattered throughout the base. I can imagine a higher rank rates a nicer room. Isn't a CBQ...
If you're NPQ'ed and choose to not redesignate you will stay in H as long as it takes to get an official NPQ letter. Then you move to student pool. If you choose to redesignate it depends on the specifics and the current state of the Navy to take you into another designator.
Heyjoe is dead on.
Small ironing boards suck.
I never used tupperware, but it might be useful to keep somethings clean.
You can easily get notepads and pens at OCS.
You can bring shaving cream, as well as other normal toiletries.
I think you can hold off buying cleaning supplies.
Hating Naval Aviation because of IFS is like hating the Navy because of OCS (or plebe year at the Academy). You're not even flying with military instructors. Focus on the task at hand but keep your eyes on the prize.
Pulling the CAPS would be like pulling a yellow handle in between your legs. You only pull it to save your life. A human life is worth more than a machine.
Just search for the automated system phone number on the internet for the Florida driver's license renewal center. I did the same thing (move from Florida to Texas), called the number, spent 20 bucks and 20 minutes and whammy, Florida driver's license with a Texas address.
Your pay is not capped. The MGIB still exists for people have been in a while, but for new people it is the Post 9/11 Bill and requires nothing to be paid in. I believe to use the MGIB or the Post 9/11 Bill it requires 4 years of service.
If you already went to a doctor and have the sinus infection documented just call your recruiter and say you're sick and can't do it. Don't wait until he shows up to do it.
If you need to go to the doctor, go to the doctor. However, beware of creating too large of a documented history of sinus...
It generally varies but in the beginning you have class head calls about 30 minutes after you would normally go. My most vivid memories of indoc week were constantly screaming, running around and being on the verge of pissing myself most of the day. Later in class you get breaks to hit the head...
My recruiter got a letter from his boss (on a Navy letterhead) saying I was going to a commissioning program on a certain date with an expected graduation date 3 months later.
I have a waiver for migraines. 3 years is the line in the sand. If they were within that time frame (or took medication in that period) a waiver would be denied. I went to MEPS with all my documentation and the Doc said I was good to go. I showed up to OCS and the flight docs at NAMI were...
I've known 3 in the Rock so far. If I get E-2/C-2 I would be happy, but if there was a guy in my selection class who wanted it I would buy him drinks for the rest of his life.
Advice could go either way in the beginning, but in the end it won't cover your ass. You are responsible. I would talk to the recruiter and follow his advice.
I've never been airsick, but my first flight in the T-34 I was hurting. I think the combination of nerves, hot weather, bumpy day and not being at controls (IP showing course rules) hurt me. Getting used to flying is big.
Best of luck with training.
Facebook is a great way to stay in contact with other Navy people. It's hard to keep track of people once they go to different ships, squadrons, etc. I think it is nice to know when people wing and what squadron they got.
All you old people are haters.
