The Monster COD thread (homage to the C-2A Greyhound)

"I had 3 C-2's taxi with us yesterday at NASNI. "Password" was the callsign. Are those locally based C-2s? Also, we tried to get out to San Nicolas Island for some patterns, but Beaver completely turned us away. Is it generally difficult to get out to there?" I've been out there several...

get all the flight time you can....I have always called bullshit on the 'its not needed, the program is designed....blah, blah blah..' Two things make you a better pilot: hard work prior to stepping into the cockpit (studying procedures, app. plates, proper pre-flight planning etc...) and...

    Platform locations/Going westcoast

For the COD side of the house....lately (last year and a half) west coast COD slots have been few and far between. Good description Nittany. All through the RAG (COD world) you constantly hear "your right hand controls glide slope (power levers) and your left hand controls AOA (yoke)" so if you are low and on speed you add power....the nose wants to pitch up and yaw is introduced, this requires...

    split-NFO-Helo? 2P? Black Hole? What?

I would disagree. From what I have seen (couple pilot classes on either side of me) the E2/C2 track is noticably longer. The average E2/C2 pilot is lucky to make it to the fleet prior to putting on LT!! All the jet guys I was in K-rock with are already in their fleet squadrons and have been...

Fighter Ace Robin Olds laid to rest

Wikipidiea says 16, but he passed up several opportunities to get more because the running rumor was the AF was going to take him out of action when he got 17, and make some kind of publicity figure for the AF.

Here is something you don't see everyday

Brett, I agree with you after looking again. I was confusing the red for an amber. I'm pretty sure you only get the green/amber red/amber in the cockpit and the approach indexers are either or (1 unit buffer that paddles cant see, only shows paddles the full on fast or slow) so that...

    Hawkeyes!

Next door was a reference to VRC 40, which is next door to 120. VRC-40 is the east coast C-2 squadron. You are not the only one set on E-2's Kray. Common for at least a handful of guys to be set on going E-2's. One guy I know was actually pissed to have selected C-2's, go figure.

    Hawkeyes!

All E-2's at the RAG are 8 blade...I know at least one AD squadron is four blade, we had a guy get orders to it about two boats ago.

Rag students get a series qual....meaning when you leave the rag you will be able to fly any E-2 in the fleet. They have a couple of each variant on the line, so you could fly the HE2k today and the Nav upgrade tomorrow. Not really any major differences, so my E-2 buddies tell me, an EP or...
