FY 23 IWC DCO Reserve Board

Traditionally yes, and I agree it still should be, however, speaking with the instructors here it is becoming more common when it used to be an anomaly. Many of the straight college folks aren’t shy to say they aim to get into politics and see this as a resume builder.

FY 23 IWC DCO Reserve Board

I had this thought too, however, currently at NIOBC and we have a large amount of straight academic folks, with zero job or life experience, just undergrad (mostly at Ivy league schools), and now into graduate programs, so who knows what they're really looking for now for 1835s.

    SRB / DCO

So an update. Although JoeBob above is right, OPNAVINST, MILSPERMAN, RESPERMAN and even some of the DOD instructions agree, there is a recruiting instruction that says if you serve less than 1 year in your rate, you owe it back, which is what this stems from...How do we have so many instructions...

    GI Bill for ATP

No kidding.....I'm at F9 and in my new hire class 8 months ago we had 2 from ATP, CFIs with1500 hours, all piston, although they were required to go get ATPs and the 320 type prior to ground school ($15k or so)....Sure, its only about 3-4 selected per month, so it is competitive but an...

    SRB / DCO

Not an issuing paying it back, happy to do so, just conflicting information. It won’t progress to any sort of sauciness. The 4 year comment was referenced to the fact I had re-enlisted for 4 years maxing out my ability to serve enlisted (HYT for E6 is 22yrs), and now I’m 8+ of service ability...

    SRB / DCO

AW team - Hoping to find somebody who has gone through this or may just be an expert on it. Took an SRB at 18 years of service for 4 years which would have taken me to HYT for E6. When I mentioned to the NRC CCC that I was a DCO applicant, they casually said since its a competitive program and...

    AMEX Platinum

On the note of the AMEX, if you’re like me sadly, I’ve been wasting years/decades of benefits...found a group on FB ( there are multiple) called AMEX Platinum Aficionados or something like that... these folks make a life out of maximizing benefits. I’ve been able to hammer out max benefits for...

    DCO Intel questions

Would my background somehow validate my original post with my opinion that the Navy consider bringing DCOIC back for prior Es who are going into the reserves?
  11. a_dub

    DCO Intel questions

Yup, I'm here to amuse. For the rest of whatever this is that is ongoing, I didn't realize forum members were not allowed to express an opinion others do not agree with. But since that seems to be the case, I'll keep going as long as the useless comments flow.

    DCO Intel questions

Pretty funny how many people like you get emotional with this discussion and feel the need for the whole 'suck it up' lackluster advice. My original comment was based on an earlier post that said ODS was essentially a better all around program than DCOIC, which I posted my thoughts on, then all...

I said ODS, not OCS. Glad you had that OCS experience, as posted above, my post was for ODS.

    DCO Intel questions

I never said it does. I stated my opinion that prior service, specifically reservists, should have the option for a shorter class such as DCOIC. Cool story bro, again, I never said being a prior E was an automatic pass. However, learning to march, make racks, learning rank structure, and the...

    DCO Intel questions

Well I'll disagree, specifically prior navy reservists certainly do not need to attend ODS, so in my opinion it isn't the 'right thing to do,' in fact, it is a waste of tax dollars and time. I think a little bit of critical thinking instead of blanket mentality would show DCOIC is more than...

USN DCO Change to ODS 2020

Good lord, yes please, take this to a conversation. Came on here to look for recent ODS experiences and had to go through 2 pages of crap. Anyways, if anybody is scheduled for an upcoming ODS class, I can pass some info if interested, just some small tips that may help the experience. Please do...

    DELTA ATP-CTP Course

To slightly update this - price drop to $4395 (no Shepard or written) due to low demand, smaller class sizes with openings more frequently. Signed myself up for a Jan course- with current events, the days of every regional paying for the course is probably not on the near horizon, so seems like...

    FY 20 IWC DCO Board

Heard this, yes. I was required to sign page 13s saying this exact thing. Both the panel and OIC mentioned this, I'm not sure if they're pushing this as a scare tactic, but when I asked questions, nobody had answers. Such as - So, you want me to deploy in my current enlisted rate, before...

    FY 20 IWC DCO Board

If you're currently in the reserves (and referring to ODS) I was able to get my ODS class date scheduled by the Training O at the NOSC. Just went to CANTRAC, found my desired dates, emailed him, and within 48 hours has a confirmation email for the end of Feb (packing warm clothes).

    FY 20 IWC DCO Board

Been a bit since we've had updates, my docs are in and I'm commissioning this weekend. Thanks to COVID our drills will be virtual so mostly a non-event, just the oath and sign, with a cold drink of course. Hopefully ya'll are not far behind.

    SELRES Enlistment Bonus Question

Thanks, CCC is the one who said "I don't know of a way to get that bonus if the recruiter didn't offer it." I am attempting to get some intel before I bring it up the chain so I don't come off as a guy who doesn't believe the CCC and goes over her head.

    SELRES Enlistment Bonus Question

Greetings AWs. I recently came back into the reserves (August '17) on the enlisted side while I pursue DCO. When I signed my contract, I asked about an enlistment bonus and was told there was not one and I left it at that. I was just talking to my new NC1 who informed me there was in fact a...

NAVAIR Reserve Program (NRP) and DCO opportunities: AEDO & AMDO

I would think your OR would have gave you a run down on what happens next. The board is end of April, then those selected will be notified when results come out, by recruiter. If I recall, results were out about a month after the board last year.
