Gonna revamp this post a little bit: For those of you in the know, when it comes to NFO, what are the needs of the navy for the near future?

If y'all are waiting on finsels, I agree, I wouldn't sweat it. It seems like they're coming down the same pattern that the prorecs came with the exception of our active duty buds. Stay vigilant. I heard it could be as late as early next month for some of us

From what I understand, I'm doing all of that Monday when I swear in. He didn't say anything specific about the paperwork for background but I'll have to do direct deposit and all if the other legal stuff that morning

Heard from my recruiter as well as a couple moderators on this site that a lot of the SNA/SNFO selects from the 6 Feb board are going to get a quick turnaround from PROREC to FINSEL for the 12 March OCS class!! A lot of us might be right there with you guys/gals!!

You and me both. Just praying I don't get tabled and get to retest if I get a prorec-n. I'm age critical and not a prior. So if I get tabled it's basically the end of the road for me lol

Nice to meet you bud! Where are you from? I did my whole recruit process through MEPS Little Rock. That's where my recruiting office is, as well as the only ASTB station in the state. I got lucky and got to save myself a few 5-6 hour drives. Lol

Yeah I asked my recruiter the same thing. He told me what I just told you. They have a quota for each position for the FY and they (usually) try to spread the selects across the scheduled boards. I'd double check with a moderator here though. Rufio will know for sure

I imagine results get handed down through recruiting districts though. Obviously, take all that with a grain of salt ;)

From my understanding, it's not subdivided. Everyone that applied to this board across the whole country (civilians, current service members, priors and all) are piled in. Same with all the other boards.

My recruiter retired in December so I'm pretty much waiting on someone from NRD to email me or someone from the office in Little Rock to call me. I'm kind of relying on you guys and this site to keep me up to speed lol.

All good to know. I know it's tough to explain to people that have yet to climb that mountain. It sounds like most of us are on par at least. It seems like we might have a pretty good group from this forum that all want it and are making it a priority.

Speaking for myself, and possibly a lot of the other civilians on this thread, were trying to gauge what is considered "in shape" for OCS as well as the Navy in general because, after all, we are civilians. The questions are just to better design a training routine leading up to OCS. Not...

I know you're not in the navy, but how does a standard PT test for the army usually go? PU/SU/Run? Any rest between exercises?

Since it's not exactly running weather there now, I know there's a couple indoor tracks in Renton and one in Issaquah as well as Kirkland (maybe, it's been a while), but I'm not sure of any in Seattle proper. Hope you get some good runs in with all that snow

About a 10:00 1.5mile, 80-90 push-ups, 100 sit-ups. I definitely still have some work to do. You live in Seattle, msv?

I'm practicing the Marine Corps PFT on a somewhat daily basis with push-ups and other strength and conditioning workouts thrown in for good measure. Still probably won't be in good enough shape to avoid being physically destroyed at OCS.

PRT, study, PRT, study...everyday cycle. Keep pushing yourself and keep your "tools" sharp.

From what I understand: there's the one week board followed by roughly a 1-2 week turnaround for results to be posted. So late February or early March makes sense. We've all made it this far. 2-3 weeks is nothing compared to the 6+ months that a lot of us have been waiting. Stay busy prepping...

I'm assuming math is your area of focus when studying? The only real practice you can do is repetition. You've still got a good bit of time to run through a practice test a couple times a week and work immeasurable loads of specified problems between now and then. That's the route I would take...

Tried to confirm with my recruiter today. My rec retired last month so the new guy I got passed to told me he hadn't heard anything about changing it period. He says it's still 23 Jan 2017. I know that's inaccurate so I'll take your word for it

So, the board CONVENES (gathers) on 6 Feb 2017 (per Rufus, above) and releases selections on 17 Feb 2017? Or did you hear from your REC that the board CONVENES on the 17?

My recruiter told me the same thing. Almost verbatim; "The board convenes the week after 16 Dec 2016 and you should know the results early to mid January." I sent my package off on November. Good to know though.

I've only taken it once but I'm awaiting results of the December board. Should know soon. If I don't get picked up I'll retest and then immediately reapply. I'm going for NFO and I'll be applying simultaneously for the USMC next time if I miss out. Crazy though because I thought my gpa was going...

You and I are pretty evenly stacked up. I'm going to take the ASTB again soon but we have identical scores as well as GPA for the same reason. I also have a couple of O3 and O5 LORs, both Air Force, and my long time boss and professor. I'm hopeful, but being realistic, I'm thinking I'll have to...
