Our last two ranges were canceled due to lack of participation. Hopefully enough people sign up for the M4 range this month.

    CW Reserve Mobilizations

Why are you linking USNA information to the reserves? They are separate. Nobody is going to tell you where the OCONUS mobilizations are.
  4. devilbones

    CW Reserve Mobilizations

You should expect to do 1. You can volunteer for an opportunity, if you get involuntarily mobilized, you will not have a say where and when you go. Not a chance, not sure where this information came from. I dont know what the 4 locations are but you will be assigned to a NIOC until you get...

I would ask anyway. My unit has a rifle and pistol qual monthly. Ranges have been canceled because not enough people signed up.

** NEW ** Maritime Cyber Warfare Officer (1885)

Not quite. You need to earn your designator qualification and then IWO qualification to earn the pin. In the reserves I think you have 3 years to get your desginator qualification and 5 years for IWO.

IWC DCO success strategies for reconsideration in subsequent cycles

Make sure your motivational statement highlights why you are the best qualified for Intel and back it up. Add additional information on why you chose Cryptologic Warfare as your second choice with evidence of how you will succeed. Make sure you know what a Cryptologic Warfare Officer does...

IWC DCO success strategies for reconsideration in subsequent cycles

I completed my masters degree and made sure that my motivational statement reflected the designators that I selected. If you choose more than one, make sure that you emphasize why you are qualified for your number 1 choice, and why you chose number 2, etc.

USN FY 24 IWC DCO Reserve Board

Cool thanks. I don't think it's really going to be an issue. I think 57 1815/1825 billets are converting anyway. I think its going to be really hard for a reservist to become an EA or ION though. Thats going to take some time.

FY 23 IWC DCO Reserve Board

There are only a handful of IP billets that are converting to MCWO. If you have any of the certifications listed on the PA it would be good to have IP as a secondary choice. Make sure that your motivational statement clearly defines why you are picking Intel. Lots of applicants were not...

FY 23 IWC DCO Reserve Board

There is a quarterly quad chart that is published showing the health of the community by designator. The OCM knows how many DCOs are required per board in order to sustain and its projected.

FY 23 IWC DCO Reserve Board

This allowed them to select officers from other branches to come over as an LT to fill that gap. Some folks came in as LTJG with no prior service with significant experience, and the PA allows that flexibility.

    Enlisted to officer

I would suggest that you do not enlist if you only plan to be an officer. There is a conditional release that is required and you will incur some sort of obligation. What happens if your A-School conflicts with your Grad School? It might be best to just submit your officer application and see...

FY 23 IWC DCO Reserve Board

Has this ever happened? I have only been in the reserves for 5 years and I understood that this money was allocated to ME annually, guaranteed to be there.
  24. devilbones

FY 22 IWC DCO Reserve Board

You'll get a TBH MAS code until you complete ODS, and you won't be eligible to MOB until you qualify in your designator. That should be your #1 priority and then get your IWO Pin. Good luck and have fun.

FY 22 IWC DCO Reserve Board

Because if you are a newly minted Ensign, you don't want to be doing your old FCPO duties or CPO duties. It is also sometimes hard for your peers to recognize you as an officer and instead feel you are still the same old enlisted person. Its just a bad practice. I don't think its possible to...

FY 22 IWC DCO Reserve Board

Those 17 are in total. According to the quad slide, there are 22 accessions per year (12 NAVET / 10 DCO). If there are two boards per year, there are about five slots per board for DCO. Those numbers can change based on the current inventory and the NAVET accessions.

FY 21 IWC DCO Reserve Board

The mobilization stuff changed in FY23 so you are probably good. It was all prior-enlisted, not just them. I don't think this is still the case but you still may have to sign a Pg. 13.
  32. devilbones

FY 22 IWC DCO Reserve Board

If ten people have the same qualifications and scores and there are only nine slots open, one person will not get selected.

This information is literally in the PA. There is no entry-grade credit for Intel, Oceano, only IP, CW.
  36. devilbones

FY 22 IWC DCO Reserve Board

Keep in mind that not all of those 17 will come from DCO. For instance, the FY22 goal was 11 NAVET and 9 DCO required to sustain the community. The bottleneck is at the O3/O4 level.
  37. devilbones

FY 22 IWC DCO Reserve Board

ODS AMA (Doc's, Nurses, JAGs, AMDOs, DCO's and others you'll be coming here!)

According to that link, you dont need to be one. The only issue is your application needs to be approved in the prior Fiscal Year. So if you plan on attending ODS in FY23 you have about 16 days left to get it approved.
