    Final Select Purgatory

I'm in Houston as well. Just crashing here until OCS.
  7. J

    Final Select Purgatory

Great! I'll be in Austin pretty often for Texas games, SA isn't much of a drive at all.

    Final Select Purgatory

Anyone in the Houston/Austin/SA area that would want to meet up/grab a drink while we wait?

USAF to USN Inter-Service Transfer for Color Vision

I was in a similar position with Pilot for AF OTS. I had gotten 90's on my greens for each eye, they just weren't on the same test, and the closest I got was 70/70 in each eye. Navy only requires 55 for each eye, all three colors according to the waiver guide. But the AF flight surgeon told...

Looks like there were 72 Pro Rec Y for SNA and 15 Pro Rec N. 72 Pro Rec Y for SNFO and 18 Pro Rec N. That sounds pretty good!

    18 July Pilot/NFO Board

Thats too cool. A buddy of mine is coming up on his ENJJPT board at AF OTS and he sent me a picture of their most recent drops... One kid went straight to the F22, a bunch to F15 and 16, and quite a few to 35 now.
  15. J

    18 July Pilot/NFO Board

I couldn't tell on those. When Im at signature I see XL and VN and occasionally EN. Lot of T-45 and T-6 have been there lately too.

    18 July Pilot/NFO Board

Not sure this'll fill the void, but if any of you guys are in Austin, there is an entire squadron of T38's shooting high speed approaches at Bergstrom... Looked like Red Flag when I was driving into the city. Not the navy, but eh, still pretty awesome.

    18 July Pilot/NFO Board

Haha I'm pissed off too! What I heard was relayed from a woman AT nrc... So now your guess is as good as mine
  18. J

    18 July Pilot/NFO Board

No none at all. Like I said, just relaying what I was told. I have no idea what any of it means specifically for us. All I'm concerned about is getting that damn call.
  19. J

    18 July Pilot/NFO Board

I'm just relaying what I was told. I trust the gentleman who told me, however I have no way to verify what is happening or I'm sure we all would have. All I'm hoping for is a call before Friday.
  20. J

    18 July Pilot/NFO Board

My bad, I think I misspoke. It sounded to me from whom I spoke to that they were checking eligibility, not doing the actual clearance.
  21. J

    18 July Pilot/NFO Board

Good question... I wonder if this means it will reduce FINSEL time since security is already done?
  22. J

    18 July Pilot/NFO Board

I have it on good authority we are going to find out before Friday, so get pumped. The board happened, and it sounds like they are security checking those selected before releasing decisions.
  23. J

    18 July Pilot/NFO Board

Hahaha yeah I've seen him post that before, with plenty of Y's following
  24. J

    18 July Pilot/NFO Board

Yeah it was pretty shortly after the submission deadline that a buddy of mine who worked there let me know. I assume if they did that after the submission deadline then they would have gone ahead with board selection. I think we are good to go, albeit understandably anxious.

    18 July Pilot/NFO Board

NRC or someone up there contacted an old employer I didn't get a reference from, so it would seem like something got underway. My recruiter jokingly speculated that "pilots" were at the helm, and didn't care to get around to posting results. I'm sure we are all going to be fine. Here's to...

    18 July Pilot/NFO Board

The Air Force pilot board I got in on had a 6-9 week waiting period to hear back once the board convened... That was a long awaited phone call! The board met in January and I heard back in March. I'll take this!! :D
  27. J

    18 July Pilot/NFO Board

Ah damn you. Got me by a point on the OAR haha
  28. J

    18 July Pilot/NFO Board

Yeah it sounds like they will get those guys OCS dates ASAP. My recruiter said he has seen FinSel come back for age critical in 2 weeks, so I would think they will try and hurry it up for y'all.

1,001 questions about the ASTB (post your scores & ask your questions here!)

So I took the AFOQT last August, and I am already a pilot, so most of the aviation/joystick content was second nature. I am also a mechanical engineer, so that gave me a leg up on the math and the mechanical. Ultimately I spent a lot of time on quizlet reviewing the nautical terms and such...

    Selection Chances/Pilot Slot

Haha alright man, cool. My recruiter said "likely" August, but it makes no difference to me.
  31. J

    Selection Chances/Pilot Slot

In response to the earlier Air Force post, pilot boards for AF OTS are extremely tough. On mine, everyone I talked to had a PPL at least, and were above 95's on their AFOQT. I believe the selection rate was significantly under 10%, but I cannot remember specifics. Technical degrees were also...

1,001 questions about the ASTB (post your scores & ask your questions here!)

Yeah I don't think they are there by accident. I took the Air Force TBAS several months ago and it had almost identical dead zones... The joystick was the Thrustmaster Hotas, which I have used before recreationally with no dead zone. So yeah, they probably have that on purpose. Doesn't make...

1,001 questions about the ASTB (post your scores & ask your questions here!)

Got my scores: 75 9/9/9 Definitely did not think I did that well as I felt exhausted and a little rushed throughout the OAR sections!

1,001 questions about the ASTB (post your scores & ask your questions here!)

Just took it this morning. Lots of logs and exponents as well as quite a few probability problems. Very little factoring but several huge order of operations equations. RH was simple, and mechanics was straightforward. Lots of lever and density questions progressing to questions about...

The Doctor is in! Ask a Flight Surgeon!

Does the Navy test color vision monocularly, or with both eyes together for the flight physical? Curious about this for the PIP plates
  37. J

USAF to USN Inter-Service Transfer for Color Vision

Do you guys know if the Navy tests with the plates one eye at a time, or both eyes at the same time? When the AF tried to push me through for an FCII for RPA, they tested the PIP one eye at a time. Curious how the navy does it. Reading the NAMI aeromedical waiver guide said nothing about...

Thanks for the advice Noggin. Yeah the AF DQ'ed me on the spot, so I am currently applying SNA for a board estimated for August.

USAF to USN Inter-Service Transfer for Color Vision

Hey guys, John here. Was picked up as an OTS Pilot Select in March of this year, and just graduated from UT Austin with a Mech Engr degree. Went to Randolph for FC1 in March and got 70/70 on my CCT. They let me retest and my scores were: 70/90, 90/70 and 70/70 again. Unfortunately after that...

Really appreciate all the help this forum has provided. Took the AFOQT and got 99/99/99 and rest 98. Hope my preparation for that will aid in my testing on Thursday. Best, John
