You're right. I was thinking actual shaved. You can definitely have it cut very short. You just couldn't have part of your head that way and part not. Also, females are not allowed to have their heads shaved. Though this is specifically referring to the whole head, it would also apply to any part of the head. Beyond that, the "faddish" rule is what would apply.

I would have to see the cut to know, but Navy regs stipulate that a hairstyle cannot appear "faddish". For a female, if it can be seen that part of your hair is shaved off, then that would definitely be out of regs.

You've only been waiting a few weeks then. Definitely give it more time. Being a pilot, I could see you having orders before the end of the summer even though they just recently got your transcripts. Hope that helps!

It took me a couple months to finalize my medical stuff so that added to the time. Have you gotten your medical "ok" for OCS? Honestly, you got picked up for pilot so you may even have actual orders by the end of this month. No promises, but you guys go fast. I was selected last Sept for IW...

I thought that I remembered the 3rd class one only being 25, but it could have been 50. It's not far either way.

For the qual, you just have to complete the distance. You can use any stroke you want. You can even doggy paddle if you so choose. I've seen people pass the 3rd class swim call swimming in such a way that if they were anywhere else a lifeguard would jump in to save them. lol

If it's just for OCS, I wouldn't see why you couldn't use someone else's car. After all, you could rent a car if you wanted and would still be reimbursed at least the mileage. At least, that's how it works for other travel situations. If it's for PCSing, the Navy will not ship a car for you...

I talked to a couple former CTs just turned IW ensigns. As IW, you will not be PCSing until after training in Rhode Island and Pensacola (oh and now we will be adding 3 weeks in Virginia to all that). While at Pensacola, we will receive permanent orders to one of the 5 Centers of Excellence...

Once you're in the service, you will be given plenty of chances to update information that would pertain to your clearance. You have to keep information current as long as you hold the clearance, so get used to it. Also, once you have the TS, you will still have to get specific clearance to work...
