    Hot new helicopter/rotorcraft news

The lack of innovation in the core of GA piston aircraft is appalling. CAP is doing 500 hour magneto removal and inspections because the mags themselves seem to fail/MBTF right at 500 hours like clockwork. on brand new from the factory Cessna 206T Turbo (that the USAF spent over $1mm per...

The Great Flight Jacket Thread (wearing/buying Leather, NOMEX, WEP jackets/patches)

Try eBay - although at this point I'm not sure if Long sizes were ever produced. I have an XL Regular and at 6:4", it fits well but could be slightly longer. I wear it in the office and when flying - a bit of an envy item of my AF active duty colleagues! It's a great piece of gear.

Seeking advice on that first handgun or next weapon purchase? Ask AW!

@Hair Warrior would highly recommend their etched reticle prism sights in 1x, 3x, and 5x. They also manufacture their own 3x magnifier!!

EOTECH has amazing products. No doubt. Have you considered Primary Arms? High quality and much more affordable.

    FS: EOTech EXPS2

Interesting point - the former CEO of EOTECH is a Navy Single-Anchor Hornet dude and a watch guy.

    Marksmanship

It would be catastrophic - almost certainly destroying bone and cartilage. Nerve damage, loss of function, not pretty.

    Marksmanship

We had a laugh at the office regarding the infamous pic. A Reservist who is an FBI agent pointed out how absurd the "shoulder stock in the shoulder pocket is", as the Bureau has long since done away with shooting long guns from the shoulder. Apparently the current FBI Academy technique is to...

    Europe under extreme duress

Nice AF PA piece by CNN....getting this kind of content out to mainstream media/US consumers (electorate) is critical - given how far removed the US general population is from its military. Would love to see more Navy PA content like this.

    Hot new helicopter/rotorcraft news

I would be interested in hearing OEI anecdotes of the V-22 - if anyone has any to share. The South Sudan operation in 2013 where 3 CV-22's were shot to hell (by no-kidding AAA and crew served weapons) is an example and apparently the after action case study was the V-22 performed remarkably...

The SHOW: Airlines still a "good gig"??

Delta CEO personally could contracted for Naval Aviator celebrity Scott Kelley to host the Eclipse event flights. A very tasteful touch. A reason why he is one of the most admired CEOs in the world and why Delta is a well run company. The G-1 is a nice touch. I believe Captain Kelley is...

    CMV-22B Osprey Rollout

The paint scheme is awesome. Well done. The fact that these were pre-owned 73's in 121 service and converted to a combi configuration and updatted avionics and engines is cool and a real money saver. A lot of bang for the buck.

    Navy Dedicated SAR Squadrons

Whoa, whoa, whoa! Never said that and merely parroting anecdotes from the various HSC threads on the challenges folks are seeing. And I don't think the AF is pure-white-snow either. AF tends to boast a little more about capabilities and their wins and Navy tends to be more quiet on capability...

    Navy Dedicated SAR Squadrons

My impression from anecdotes posted here is the mission competes with many that HSC has in their readiness matrix - and that it gets a bare minimum of resources and support with the understanding that it's not a real world mission would likely encounter. Additionally - I have to idea what...

    Navy Dedicated SAR Squadrons

I work closely with a retired AF HH-60 guy - and one of the things that impresses me about helo CSAR/PR ops in the AF is that the mission is surrounded by established doctrine. There are a whole chain of assets involved in the rescue mission - and the aircraft are all highly equipped for the...

    Navy Dedicated SAR Squadrons

If I was a 30 year old Navy LT again and looking to leave at MSR, I would seriously pursue the Air Guard/Air Reserve Tech GS-12 (and O-3) route with AF flying helos. It seems to be a tremendous opportunity and exciting work. Plan B would be DCA with USCG.

    Random Griz Aviation Musings

I was there for the arrival! Actually it was during our Reserve Muster /AT. Landed at the old Wright Field , just south of WPAFB.
