You'll be issued a leather name tag set when you get to API. When I checked into my Primary squadron, we got actual input on our new name tags, so I got my EAWS on that one. But there's nothing stoping you from paying for a custom leather one from Wings and Things during API.

Just had to jump in on this, on deployments when we had our mustache contests the females would join the competition by not shaving their legs. Extra points if they shaved cool designs in.

You'll be getting PCS orders pretty much the last 2 weeks of OCS. If you're going to move using the Navy it requires about a three week lead time minimum, so expect to have to report down yourself and then your wife after (unless you have family that can be there when they pack up your stuff)...

If you bring skivvies then you don't need to buy any. White briefs is suggested, but it's not required. It's a good idea to have white ones though because anything other than white will be pretty visable under your whites.

You change from red to gold at 12 years if you "haven't been caught". Reverts to red if you slip up.

The majority of ribbons I have are unit awards. I have a single NAM, the rest have come from deployments. Thinking about the warfare pins, making them mandatory doesn't have to cheapen them. Looking at dolphins, they're 'required', and from people I've talked to, it's not a rubber stamp process.

I'm doing the same right now. For your good conduct, it should be in your ESR. If it isn't, go to your ESO and they can add/verify it. I'm curious about the rifle/pistol ribbons too. I don't have any paperwork either, so I'm thinking I have to write them off.

My orders have OCS as an intermediate school. No final activity :eek: I imagine you get new orders/mod'd ones when you complete?

If traffic is the problem they just need to get more states onboard with lane sharing (ala California). I don't think I was ever late getting on or off North Island. Except for when there were jumpers.

With any luck, next week they'll put out official emails or something. I get the feeling that it might be better to have your CC email or call before you do. That way you at least gave someone official a chance (and didn't jump the gun/chain/shark).

The prt standards are if you actually swim the prt (vice running). From the sound of it, the swim qual is very similar to enlisted boot camp, i.e jump, swim, don't drown.

Found this out today, thought it was funny. So my OIC called the processor to see if I was selected, but what he didn't mention was the processor asking him, "the results only came out less than two hours ago, how did he hear that they were out?" Ninja Air Warriors network!

If you can get the medical and security stuff done early it'll cut down the time between pro rec and final select. Plus, if there are issues it gives you time to resolve them. I'd definitely try to get both done first.

I just heard from my chain of command, I got FS for SNA with a OCS report date of Feb 23! They had to call Mr. Elam (the processor), but he told them the news. The Navy's getting a Christmas card thank you from me this year.

Only the interviews need to be on the specific form. For the LORs there is a template in the Navy Correspondence manual if I remember correctly, but they're not anything outlined in the OCS instruction. I'm not sure about turning the package in before you have your degree in hand. I waited...

Like CTI2 said, keep at it. I've been rejected 4 times by two sevices in the last 5 years, and it finally looks like things are going through.

I've heard the ACT is easier, but I've only the SAT before. I didn't think you had a choice about doing the writing portion (I didn't when I retook the SATs in 2009), but they didn't count, so that didn't matter.

If you can log into BOL, everything is back up, but some things don't work (like the FORMAN status).

If it reassures you guys at all, I think ya'll have much better stats than I did when I started out (and possibly still if I'm being honest). I can pass on what helped out me though; patience, persistence, and in a pinch, snarky remarks.
