Like others have said. BAH is not taxed it will not show up on your W2. I claim 0 because I like getting money back at the end of the year. It's like having a piggy bank for my wife and I (no interest). If you claim 0 on your W2 then claim 2 you and your wife on your tax return then you should...
The amount of airframes available now is limited I agree but, according to the adm that spoke at the rag a few weeks ago the MMA is a go. 2013 for the first squadron fazed in until 2019 when the last p-3 squadron transitions. There has been talk of consolidating the bases we fly out of but...
ya sorry it's late there has been a fair amount of beer consumed. what I meant was that if the opportunity is there don't pass it up. but you knew that so I will stop now.
The class is six months long. The hardest part of Randolph training is being with the air force. They just do things differently. The painful things are the death by power point lectures that are given, the fun stuff is the flying. It was fun to me to think I just flew 1400 miles and traversed 4...
It is true that some of the initial training at Randolph will be similar to api. It doesn't last long though. They are working on removing Randolph out of the equation all together. They would extend the time you spend in Pensacola and finish the panel nav portion here in jax. We were told that...
Drive a car and you can store all the extra stuff that you want in it. There was always ample time to get stuff out of your car as time went on. I brought a large backpack and used other class mates cars on ocation to stash stuff in when needed. I didn't have my car, it would have been convienent
I am also a former Army SPC. I did three years in the 25th. When it came time for me to think about getting back into the military after college and three years of teaching I thought long and hard about going back to the Army. I ended up going for the Navy as a P-3 NFO. I just winged last...
Most of my class took the whole leave period. We graduated with a negative leave balance. There used to be a policy that you couldn't graduate with a negative leave balance and you would have to repay the difference. As of last year that policy was no longer in effect. It might change this year...
I don't belive a JAG lawyer can help you in a civilian case unless that lawyer is licenced in the state that you need the help. Could be wrong though. We had a brief during OCS but it was a while ago. Memory is foggy.
Rickydt34,
That is the armed version of the actual T-6. But you are close the T-6 was, I hear, desingned around the pilatus.
Ya wink that sounds like a cool gig. I wonder if they could work that into our syllibus here at Sherman.
As far as a name goes I could go with a Turbo-Mustang. Kind of keeps it in the Texan wild west motif. Plus the P-51 Mustang was a bad a$$ plane. I think they already have a name for it though. Not sure what it is.
try bringing your knees up under you more. You can hold on to them if it helps. You will float you're 70 percent water and the rest doesn't way that much. Just get a huge breath of air and relax in the water.
It freeks some of the students out. Also the training you get in OCS is just getting you prepared for API. Do you AMDO types go tp API like the flight docs?
Corsair for me. Open the canopy get the wind in your hair, the roar of that huge radial engine. The planes of today are cold and angular. There is no art to them. The last of the beautiful planes is going away with the retirement of the F-14. The new planes are excersises in compromise. Not to...
penderwt,
I was a music teacher. So yes that means I majored in Music. When I was going through the application process I looked at the Marines Briefly. The OSO said it would not be a problem. It wasn't a problem for the Navy as well. I got in and am going through the NFO program in Pensacola...
bch, where do you get your information. I will admit that the marines use the same types of weapon systems as the Army used to but I doubt that they use hand me downs. When the Army parts with a system it is usualy not funtional or close to not functional. I know when I was in the Army our unit...
Don't worry about your age. I am 30 finished OCS in Jan. and I am now in Primary for NFO. I was better in shape than more than a few of the younger guys in my class. I hurt a bit longer after someof the work outs but it wasn't a big deal. Plus your age will give you some valuable insite on life...
They have to reduce the weight. There have been reports that it is to heavy right now. Aside from that you still have a ways to go. Your best bet would be to go harriers and hope your squadron transfers to the JSF when it does come on line.
You probably won't get coffee until you become a candi o. At least you won't in the chow hall. My class graduated in Jan. The more recent graduates might know of a change in this unwriten policy
If you are nervous your bp will go up. Try to relax when it is being taken. Also you would be suprised the effect your arm position has on your bp. I had a corpman take mine. It was a little high. Elevating your arm a little will bring it way down. If you have time, next time you are getting it...
It is a big metal box. The insides are made to look like a space on a ship. There are several holes in it that they pump water into. The team inside is supposed to plug the leaks with shoring equipment. The box fills up with water pretty fast so it makes it difficult to do it. A lot of fun. You...
Ok, I am not as old. Only 30 but I will tell you all that you need to be in shape. I graduated OCS in January. I really didn't have a problem. The only limiting factor I found was that my body didn't recover as fast a some of the younger ones. If your wife supports you, you are golden. It was...
I've heard that Boeing is having a hard time getting the bomb bays to work. I have also talked with a few crewmemebrs of the P-3 who are woried about how long it takes the 737 engines to spool back up in an emergency. There is also some concern about wing flexing and launch perameters for wing...
Rob,
I too was sent to Haiti 10 years ago. It is hard to figure out the US interest in Haiti. You have to look at the relationship we have had through out history. We have always been the ones to go in and help the people of that poor country. For the most part the Haitians are really nice...
You're only 18. I grew two inches after I turned 18. Don't give up yet. You still have to get through college first. You never know what will happen to your body in four years.
I don't know of any body shops here but if your worried about youy NY plates then get someone with FL plates to take you. You will want a truck to haul a crusty old bumper in anyways
You can go back to school once you are in and better yet often times the Navy will pay for you to do it. Thay have a lot of good programs to take advantage of.
As far as the redesignation thing goes. It is not likely. I just talked with an ensign who was getting out because he get's air sick and they will not redesignate him to any thing els. We have been told this over and over since I got here in Oct. Don't give up hope though. Get lots of rest...
Has any one seen the new uniforms that the Air Force is trying out? Exactly what does blue camo hide you from? Color blind people? I can't think of a single thing that this uniform is useful for. Maybe making bad B rated sci fi movies.
Sorry had to vent. What are they thinking?
