I have an engineering degree as well, and I may have had the same aspirations that he had as well at some point. But by reading his post it seemed firsthand that he got the engineering degree because he wanted to be an astronaut and/or flyer, not because he wanted to be an engineer.

Wow that's rather odd. 14 December falls on a Sunday so it looks like you might be in for that week doing the medical Monday-Friday/in processing during that week then go to leave periods. That really doesn't make any sense. They might have changed it from last year.

Staying on the base might also not be a good option. You will be put to work if you choose to stay. The ones that took both weeks last year were very refreshed when they came back. I'd say it depends on the person.

As far as your question goes for the waiting periods they are pretty inflexible. I had PRK which was a 6 month waiting period. Officer Recruiter wouldn't even send me to MEPS until 6 months after the procedure.

And that is ultimately most likely it is the way it is right now. Between Fort Hood, Sandy Hook, there was something in Quantico as well, and Navy yard, I can't say I blame NAMI or anyone at NHCNE for erring on the side of caution.

Have you thought about NROTC at Embry-Riddle? I knew a guy who went College Program there and had his freshman year retroactively payed for by a Navy Scholarship the next year.
