For what it's worth, when I did flight school the first time around at VT-10 we did both TACFORM and section lows in the T-6 with mostly Maritime/Helo IPs as part of the UMFO syllabus for Tailhook guys.

Just as an FYI, they're no longer sending Marines to the boat to CQ (at least in Kingsville, can't speak for Meridian). They waived a bunch of phase two flights for Navy guys, but the Marines will end up doing them all, thus taking about the same amount of time.

**Reviving an old thread but still relevant for others. For what it's worth, I got LASIK through the Navy back in 2016 (was given the option of PRK or LASIK), and this year my flight doc said it no longer even requires an annual waiver submission.

For what it's worth, I felt passive plenty of times in the T-6 (and puked a bunch as an NFO in primary), but haven't had the same issues in the T-45.

Sorry to revive and old thread. Are you positive about the 20/100 prior to wings? I only ask because it's relevant to me in primary right now. I've heard you are subject to 20/40 until winging, but I'd love to have that rumor dispelled and ease my own vision concerns.

Another plug for not burning CSO/NFO bridge. I failed my SNA eye test at OCS, did a fleet tour as an NFO, got eye surgery, and now I'm down in Corpus for Pilot primary. Things have a way of working out.

My guess is that they were trying to be financially efficient and not have to teach FORMS to guys who will never use it. Not sure what all the E2 platform consists of for NFO's, but they apparently wanted them to have some of the same training that WSO's and EWO's get.

I absolutely agree with your statement. A SNFO's "Aviate" isn't non-existant, it is just different. Our AVIATE is backing the pilot up, monitoring flight instruments etc. My real point with that statement was that the IP was really referring to the "stick and rudder" skills pilots must develop...
