Just HOW difficult is the A&M Corps of Cadets? (I'm needing some advice)

Thanks Harrier Dude, your advice has been great. I'm being told that if you're in the Corps there's no time for chasing girls though =)

Just HOW difficult is the A&M Corps of Cadets? (I'm needing some advice)

Yes, I should've remembered that squadron 18 is a new outfit. If I go, I'd certainly join it because I would not being going as a fish with sophmore hours, it'd be more like junior hours (by the time I get to TAMU, I'll have 88 hours). It shortens your fish year to one semester...

Are you saying not to frog in using squadron 18?

Just HOW difficult is the A&M Corps of Cadets? (I'm needing some advice)

Yes scoolbubba, if you put your mouse pointer over that sentence in my first post, you will see it links to where you said that. Is it possible to be a non-reg at Texas A&M and still be in ROTC?

Just HOW difficult is the A&M Corps of Cadets? (I'm needing some advice)

TAMUG has its own Corps, which they now call the "Cadet Battalion" to distinguish it from the one at College Station. Essentially it's like the Corps, but much easier. I'm struggling with it.

Just HOW difficult is the A&M Corps of Cadets? (I'm needing some advice)

Thanks for the responses. I think I'm going to take my mom's advice and take this "one step at a time". I do admit that a part of me envies those of you at normal universities who just take NROTC, which is something I'm thinking about.

Just HOW difficult is the A&M Corps of Cadets? (I'm needing some advice)

Thanks Treetop Flyer. I'm still weighing things out because Corps stuff does give me in state tuition but after a year of being in Galveston I might be able to get that anyway. Oh yeah, one thing I've told people is "Well the Cadet Battalion here is probably getting me ready for the Corps at...

Just HOW difficult is the A&M Corps of Cadets? (I'm needing some advice)

Okay, while this isn't exactly a question about NROTC, it certainly relates. If there is a more appropriate forum for this, a moderater can move it. My original plan was that I'd go to Texas A&M University, and join the Corps of Cadets. However, I was not accepted and I was dissapointed, but...

Do midshipmen on advanced standing need to take caclulus and calc based physics?

    Thanks for the advice, desertoasis.

Do midshipmen on advanced standing need to take caclulus and calc based physics?

Alright great! I've taken up to Calculus 1 so I don't think that will be a problem, and I'm taking Chemistry 2 right now. And yeah, scholarships are really hard to get at this time due to the fact that the Navy seems to have limited money.

Do midshipmen on advanced standing need to take caclulus and calc based physics?

I heard it was only scholarship midshipmen that are required to take these classes. Is that true? I asked the CPO in my unit and he said no, but he sounded unsure. EDIT: I mean take, it was a typo.

I was accepted to the college program as well, and I'm really excited. Who knows, maybe a scholarship will come later.

    Good work out schedules?

Thanks for the advice everyone. I'm getting started and I think I'm off to a good start. I'm sure PT will help too.
  14. AirAggie92

    Good work out schedules?

Being totally new to the world of working out, I was just wondering how often you guys work out, for how long, and what exercises you do besides those scored on the PRT (if any?).

Does anyone have any valuable advice for a new midshipmen?

I fully believe that the Aggies would have won the last thanksgiving game except for Colt McCoy, he saved his team.
  16. AirAggie92

Does anyone have any valuable advice for a new midshipmen?

Yeah, the officer that told everyone that could have been exaggerating.
  17. AirAggie92

Does anyone have any valuable advice for a new midshipmen?

Okay point taken. Faster wasn't the right word for what I was trying convey, I meant that I was told that they got "first dibs" on the flight slots, before any other school besides service academies, and who knows if this is true. But regardless, any leg up helps.
  18. AirAggie92

Does anyone have any valuable advice for a new midshipmen?

Okay, this is a kind of tough situation to explain, but I will do my best to answer your questions. Number one, I was homeschooled. I never actually went to high school, I just went straight to a Community College. I don't really know why I did except for the fact that my parents wanted me to...

  20. AirAggie92

Does anyone have any valuable advice for a new midshipmen?

TAMUG is considered a part of TAMU. Degrees awarded from there don't appear as from TAMUG, they say TAMU on them. But yes I want to transfer to the College Station Campus after a year.

Does anyone have any valuable advice for a new midshipmen?

Thanks Chief. I'm going to have to be sure to print off this thread, many valuable things have been said that will save me a lot of grief!
  22. AirAggie92

How demanding is the NROTC program?

Texas A&M has a stereotype of being "gay." I visited the campus and found this to be very untrue. Oh and Bevo, clinging even tighter to guns and religion is what MANY Aggies do as well, including myself :)
  23. AirAggie92

Does anyone have any valuable advice for a new midshipmen?

SWACQ, I could not agree more. Honesty is something I take very very seriously. It's a shame that student couldn't admit he made a mistake and continue on.

Does anyone have any valuable advice for a new midshipmen?

Thanks CAMike. I would love to get winged, hence the reason I want to transfer to Texas A&M. Also, I'm a Christian, so I don't drink underage or anything like that. And yes I have always gone to class every time at my Community College. Thank you, I needed that post! I may PM you later...

Is my sitting height a problem?

Lawl you guys are funny. Here I am all worried about anthro stuff and you tell me to go meet girls. But you all have a very good point. It'll be years before I have to worry about this and I probably have nothing to worry about anyway. EDIT: And since we're on subject, unfortunately I'm at the...

Is my sitting height a problem?

Oh? How do they measure that's different?
  30. AirAggie92

Is my sitting height a problem?

If I've measured correctly (and I have measured myself many times) I believe my sitting height is about 38.7 inches. What is the maximum sitting height? I can't seem to find this in any official article. Some of what I've found says that the maximum is 38.9, and other articles have said 40 or...

When are ROTC cadets given the PRT?

    Good advice Pags. Thanks!
  34. AirAggie92

When are ROTC cadets given the PRT?

That's good to know Pags. I believe my unit actually considers "Good" and up passing, at least that's what my handout implies.
  35. AirAggie92

When are ROTC cadets given the PRT?

Oh okay, so we are in almost the exact same situation. Best of luck to you too!
  36. AirAggie92

When are ROTC cadets given the PRT?

So then were you put on a remedial PT program Will?
  37. AirAggie92

When are ROTC cadets given the PRT?

I'm glad to know someone is the same boat. I am totally willing to do extra PT to meet the standard of course.
  38. AirAggie92

When are ROTC cadets given the PRT?

Yeah I would go to College Station but I wasn't accepted there. I'm going to try to change campuses after a year. Of course I'd really like to pass the test but I'm not sure if I'll be able to. A remedial program may help me improve, however.
  39. AirAggie92

When are ROTC cadets given the PRT?

I do not have a contract right now. I actually am in pretty good shape to pass other than push ups however. I'm going to have to be on a much more aggressive Physical Training program than I'm on, because right now I can only do about 35-40 push ups. I'm really going to work on it!
  40. AirAggie92

When are ROTC cadets given the PRT?

Okay, so if you don't pass one section the first time what can be done about it? It's not that I won't try my hardest to pass I'm just trying to brace myself.
  41. AirAggie92

When are ROTC cadets given the PRT?

I'm joining ROTC this fall and unfortunately I don't yet meet the minimum push ups requirement. I am very much working on that though. I have seen questions like this relating to OCS but I am asking about ROTC. EDIT: I mean midshipmen, I was confusing it with the "Corps of Cadets" at TAMU and...

Does anyone have any valuable advice for a new midshipmen?

Thanks everyone. And yeah Harrier Dude, I am plan to transfer to College Station ASAP, it's just that I wasn't accepted there originally. I also have a question regarding the PRT.
  43. AirAggie92

Does anyone have any valuable advice for a new midshipmen?

I was accepted to the NROTC College Program at TAMUG and I'm thrilled! Eventually I would like to be selected for SNA. Does anyone have any advice for someone like me who is just starting out? I mean any kind of advice, about anything regarding NROTC. EDIT: Specifically, what kinds of things...

Is there a minimum number of credits per semester for non-scholarship midshipmen?

Hey everyone, thank you very much for the replies. What happened is that I essentially "skipped" high school and took all college credit instead. I have a high school diploma but college classes are used to complete it (as in, I have a ton of "Dual Credit"). I am a freshman by age (I'm 18) but...
