    Schedule a Flight Physical

I hope the 3-month waiver works for you, though I'll be a bit envious. Regardless, now that I'm at 6-month I'm in the same boat as you concerning 203, 204. Without totally threadjacking this (what's the topic again?), I feel your pain. I'm done at my current job in about a month and I've been...

    Qualifications for PRK/Lasik

I'm kinda pretty sure almost certainly positive the pre-op requirements for a waiver are -8.00 or better. So if I'm right see a doc and make sure make sure you're not that or better... but first I'd confirm on here...

    Schedule a Flight Physical

The consensus in my office is that you're not able to contract until after the 6-month mark, and then can't call to schedule the physical until you're contracted. I HAD been shooting for the Jan class, but if the policy now truly is that you must wait to have your flight physical OK'd and...

    Schedule a Flight Physical

So I had PRK done 10-Apr. I'm applying USMC OCS and the 6-month mark would then be 10-Oct. It would be my understanding then that I cannot have a flight physical or file the PRK waiver until at least after 10-Oct, correct? But, on that note, is there any reason I shouldn't be able to...

The PRK process from start to finish

+1 -- Check your diet. A very small percentage will have serious dryness issues but play on odds and assume it's not you. Diet is big.. eating healthy? how often you drinkin? sodium intake? water water water... etc.

OCC January or PLC Sr. next spring?

Yea... I pushed back applying for Oct. to Jan. for much smaller reasons but I wasn't in any particular hurry. If you were gangbusters moto and couldn't wait I suppose it might be worth it. But if you're more like me a few more anxious nights waiting might give ya more time to hang with the new...

    Marine Air contracts

Are you also on MarineOCS.com forums? I just noticed a thread on that exact topic go by a couple days ago. http://marineocs.com/portal/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=73&start=45 Ground contracts don't follow the same guidelines as NAMI (Naval AEROmed...) Also, I HAVE even talked to...

    Took V3 this morning

Why are you guys concerned about your scores? All you have to do is PASS it. A higher score does not make your packet more competitive... It is only checked to make sure that you met the passing standards.

Tips for running because I suck.

When you guys do CrossFit do you just follow whatever the schedule is from their website, crossfit.com ?? When i did it for a month or so I put on to much muscle weight and it brought my run time down. I had to find a balance.. That balance just meant wayyy more running if I wanted to follow...

The PRK process from start to finish

I wouldn't be concerned either way with doctors orders as they all seem to vary depending on the doctor's own personal experience. Example, my error was only -2.00 and my surgeon was the first to perform PRK in my state 20 some-odd years ago so he's got the experience but he seems to prescribe...

The PRK process from start to finish

Did he make a note of it in any of your paperwork? i.e. - My concern is that if the doc's current recommendation to use the muro128 for a year shows up anywhere on my paperwork submitted for the waiver... well, you follow

The PRK process from start to finish

doctor's orders... spotting this thread in the recent posts reminded me of a topic I wanted to bring up. I'm three months post-op this Friday (a quick summary would be: no pain first 48 hours, LOTS of pain on days 3 and 4, a little vision fluctuation for a month, 20/15 the previous two.. still...

    Marine October OCC class 202.

Right, you can contract, but you couldn't actually get selected and/or go to OCC before you pass your flight physical so that it can be included in your packet, correct? The PRK dilemma is that you can't pass your flight physical until your waiver clears.. the waiver can't be filed for six...

    Marine October OCC class 202.

I've been under the impression that you can't even contract without taking/passing your flight physical, let alone a MEPS... let alone submit a packet and get SELECTED. Can you really contract without even proving your vision, etc.? I'm debating all types of plans to make the Jan OCC while I...

    NAMI PRK Waiver Worksheet

Good find.. Are there links up anywhere for the actual waiver that is to be submitted by the applicant? There's a link for 'CRS/PRK AMS template' in 12.15 of the aeromed reference and waiver guide but seems to lead nowhere... I'm two-month post-op and trying to make sure I'm getting all the...

Air Contract denied Because of flight Physical

So you signed an Air contract and will leave for OCC before you know if you passed the flight physical? My OSO has asked me, like many others have done, to sign ground and then switch to Air when my PRK waiver clears.. stating that you cannot sign Air if you have had PRK until it clears... why...

    Avoiding MEPS?

Wouldn't you need a clear MEPS for either one? If you could go to juniors for ground this summer couldn't you just switch to air before seniors like every one else does? Let me know how this works out cause I'm curious as to if/how you actually get through Pensacola in 3 months. I thought...

    Avoiding MEPS?

I've thought it was six months after PRK before you could file for a waiver under any circumstance. Nugget61, didn't you point out somewhere that the waiver guidelines are in fact outdated and it will be changed to 6 months for Pcola when they are revised? If it truly is 3 months for the flight...

    Marine Air contracts

Check out this thread at MarineOCS.com (specifically the post from ICTHRUCHAOS, he's a doc)... PLC PRK procedure is a bit different from OCC http://marineocs.com/portal/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=10832 And thanks all for the feedback. I just had PRK four days ago and can finally...

    Marine Air contracts

Along the same note as most of this thread seems to be... I've gone through some crucial steps for OCS... PFT, ASTB... but tomorrow (under the laser) I start the 6 month wait required before I can waiver. Therefore, I'm hoping to be at OCC in Jan '10. (will just miss October) My question to...

PRK, OCS and the 6month wait.

I'm going to temporarily pump some life back into this thread.. i looked for input to a similar situation on marineocs.com (maybe some of you are over there) but it's not as aviation oriented so I haven't had much luck.. I'm meeting with my OSO this week to discuss timeline options and in the...

    Nugget61's PRK Process

What about non-custom PRK? Is there such a thing anymore? Or do you suppose he's referring to any and all PRK. Also, that's convenient but a bit scary right? That is, to be able to FS before the waiver clears but then get all the way to OCS still running the risk of failing your flight...

    Nugget61's PRK Process

Hey nugget, I wish I would have sent you a PM I was writing last night. it got long-winded and decided I didn't know what i was talking about but I'm pretty much suspecting the same problem to come up. I've got PRK scheduled in two weeks and was thinking (per pre-op spec below -6.00) that I can...
