    NEWS Key Bridge - Baltimore

Yeah, my only frame of reference is military mishap and JAG reports. Even though the NTSB probably has a good idea what happened right now, I'm sure it will take time, especially dealing with harbor infrastructure and operating procedures. A civilian tour helo going down is peanuts compared to...

    Primary Experience - Gouge 2024

As a non-FW former pilot, this may come across as a dumb question...but is the E-2 more of a pig to land on the carrier because of the radar dome? Or, are C-2s similar? Just curious

ISIS-K: Hey, we did this. Putin: This was a UKR op Anti-UKR Western pro-RUS apologists: That makes sense, let's promulgate this propaganda. ISIS-K: No, we really did it Pro-UKR media influencers: Obviously a RUS false flag op to rally support for more mobilization. ISIS-K: Guys, here's more...

Yeah, I'm with you on this...Apparently the 4 arrested were Tajiks. Something to do with the treatment of Chechnya or other Muslim enclaves in the former USSR? I dunno either.

    Naval Aviations "One" Problem...

C'mon man. I never told anyone that, and no monitor/detailer would either. They've got better bedside manners than that...😆 However, at some point it gets down to brass tacks. You can either accept orders, or resign in lieu of them. Hopefully, it never got to that point, but it does in a few...

    Naval Aviations "One" Problem...

Just reread your post and I don't think you were speaking on HQ level staffing, but i'll post this anyways...😆 Just saying that there are benefits to having fleet aviators, who know their peers and the culture, making assignments at the HQ level. From what I saw, you'd never want to turn this...

    Naval Aviations "One" Problem...

Glad to hear this. Hopefully FRS's do more of this, bc it was lacking when I showed up as an IP. The big difference I saw was when the crew chief instructor division got more professional courses on how to instruct.. Same as pilot instructors, but it was worse on the enlisted side (mainly just...

No worries, and nothing personal taken. You make some good points. I'll try to address some of your points (with caveat that my info may be dated) -HMX selection process happens after resident PME boards (very early in stating process) They are owned by HQMC Aviation. Manpower's only real...

Good job! I can't hear this without thinking of the comedy bit of the French fighter pilot singing "Highway to the Danger Zone'. Can someone point me to a link?

    Naval Aviations "One" Problem...

I think this is good advice; however, I will add some caveats or a counterpoint from the detailer perspective. In theory, the detailer should have a global and dispassionate view of staffing billets. In theory. Meaning, there may be a demand signal for MOS X with certain quals. Those billets...

    Random Griz Aviation Musings

Tough to watch knowing what happened later on. There's obviously multiple examples of shit like this, but it's alarming to say the least. Edit: was trying to embed this link, but it didn't work. Similar basic stuff.

I've only been there on pre-employment workups, like most. Great training environment, especially when alcohol was allowed in the huts... I'm not sure who the Marine general was that snookered the Navy into abandoning Miramar in the 90's, but I thank him. Glad I was never stationed at MCAS El Centro. Jokes aside, it seems like the DoD/Congress as a whole needs to step up its game on base infrastructure. Never been to Lemoore...

Stupid Questions about Naval Aviation (Part 3)

That's probably similar to how we viewed the Pendleton training areas during HLL (more so when the phrog and H-1 FRS's were both at NFG). Let's go head to LZ Bull, then get some pizza on the way back. 😆

    Haiti

Are there any Caribbean FAO/RAO's on here that can explain why Haiti is a perennial hellscape, yet on the same island the DR seems to be relatively stable? The answer probably informs why there are no Haitian MLB stars, but the DR has plenty. Just curious.

The Great, Constantly Changing Picture Gallery, Troisième partie: la vengeance!

I truly don't know where the cockpit starts and ends from this pic. The blades do seem coned up, which means they have no more liftt to give. As @hlg6016 notes, would have liked to see more cranial usage there on the deck.. 😃

    Naval Aviations "One" Problem...

As a former monitor/detailer, it really didn't. I believe the green side did a better job (could be wrong), but we all know what we signed up for...after your initial obligation, you've got options. Ultimately, the needs of the service wins out (Hopefully your wishlist and the service's reqs...

This is PR. 2 or 4 -60's doesn't matter. They need shells. More than that, they need western democracies to not be a bunch of pussies. I'll leave it at that. Edit: I'll add that if the US abandons UKR support, it will be a stain on our country and will have repercussions for many years to...

    Europe under extreme duress

Yep, even if this hypothetical plays out to the helo landing in a 'hot' LZ, the dudes aren't shooting at the back of the engine. The fire is going into the cockpit and cabin. I'll make a few assumptions. That -60 that was crowd-funded and was delivered with that livery, it was a good PR win...

The only thing I can relate to on my end was the different ASE mods over the years. The ultimate ASE system that had to be trick-fucked was the ALE-39 (70's Tech) dispenser pods, before it was upgraded, along with other systems.

I do remember some of my peers who flew Whiskeys talking of the front seat experience of shooting actual approaches back to NFG (head cocked off to the side looking at a small meatball). Don't know if that's accurate or not. Also, like you mentioned bc of all the mods, that shooting certain...

All jokes aside, the first squadron I was in, the Maint Chief was a black dude with a Jamaican/British accent who got shit done. I remember him working all the GSE when required. We get orders to deploy, and he's working GSE to get blades changed, and so forth... He also looked at me like I...

Alaska Airlines 737 MAX 9 Decompression

I'm not trying to be obtuse (and maybe reading the reports wrong, and misinterpreting the video of the system posted earlier have led me there), but I still don't understand why the switch on the back of the seat can push it fwd enough to cause that situation. I thought that switch was only...

    Naval Aviations "One" Problem...

To add on, the good Sergeants Major I was around embraced being in the Air Wing. Got a flight suit and/or coveralls and got on AO orders (as long as not preventing anyone else getting "on skins") to get to know their Marines. The other ones sat in their office upstairs planning their...

    Naval Aviations "One" Problem...

No worries, you may be right. From a USMC perspective (speaking at a squadron level), the E-9' Sergeants Major were a somewhat mixed bag. A lot, or some, had infantry backgrounds and didn't understand how the air wing worked. Some adapted, some didn't.
