    Aimpoint or EoTech?

A4s, thanks for the info. I guess I'll need to get my hands on one somewhere to see if I like it.

    Atlanta Terminal Area

Agree with PDK. Also might want to check out McCollum (RYY) less busy than PDK. Nice airport, new restaurant on the field called Elevation Chophouse has great food and a nice bar. Good luck.

I flew my first Solo today!

Had a 16 year old student on his second solo steal the plane. I told him to meet me at the airport at 0900 and he could go fly the pattern a few times. I specifically told him I had to be at the airport before he could go up. He and his dad got to the airport at about 0830 and his dad told him...

    Career Pilot

Get a degree in something you enjoy doing. I got a degree in Business Admin. with a concentration in Aviation Management (or an "Aviation Management" degree). I am now a 2nd LT in the USMC and will be going to flight school once I finish TBS and I couldn't be happier. But........I had a hell...

Opening my mind to military aviation

I was in the ANG while I was in college and was deployed during my junior year. We were supposed to be deployed for 6 months but it was shortened to 3 months. After I got back I was still on orders for another 2 months. It wasn't a big deal and I went right back to school. But don't think...

    USMC OCS to TBS

He will have a brief on this issue about two weeks before he graduates from OCS. He will have the choice of checking in to TBS right away or go home and work with his OSO, its called PTAD. I did PTAD. Tell him to concentrate on graduating from OCS everything will work out. He does not need...

    Reality Check.

Go to a community college if you have to and get good grades your first year. Then transfer to a university and continue to do well and contact an Officer Selection Officer (OSO). From here you can do PLC or OCC. I did OCC (10 week program after you graduate). My .02

    About Housing Around Quantico

You should look into Sky Terrace townhomes located on Onville Rd, only about a mile from the back gate. Rent for a 2 bedroom is about 1200 a month but its worth it to be that close to the gate while at TBS. My wife and I have been here since Dec. and its great. PM me if you have any questions.

To anyone who knows about anything

I'd say you need to talk to an OSO (Officer Selection Officer). Go on the net and see where they're located, then give them a call to set up an appointment.

I concur. I've had an 870 Express Magnum for over 12yrs and never had a problem with it. Even dropped it in the water duck hunting one time and it still functioned flawlessly.

    Airplane Purchases

Gatordev, yeah I'm definitely going to get some time in the a/c before going to pick it up, and yes, I believe they do still have a 180hp in them. Thanks again for the info.

    Airplane Purchases

Since we're on the subject of buying airplanes, my future father-in-law is about to buy a 2003 Grumman Tiger AG-5B. I've never flown one and was wondering if anyone had any experience in this a/c.

    "ghost test"

This is the second or third time I've put this up on the forum, but here it is again so you don't have to go searching for it. I don't know if this is what you are looking for, but this test has actual ASTB questions on it. I used this, the ARCO book, and physics notes from college to study for...

    Any books other than Arco?

Try out this practice test http://www.columbia.edu/~mmx1/astb/ASTBgouge.pdf. Some of the questions are exactly the same as the ones on the test. I studied this and the arco book and qualified for pilot. Good luck.

    Chances of being deployed

Phantom89, I was in the Air National Guard during college (I worked on F-16s), got deployed to SW Asia during my Junior year, was only gone one semester and it didn't hurt me (wouldn't have hurt me to be gone a year either). College will still be there when you get back. I had nothing but...

    Principles of Helicopter Flight

Conaway, before I took the ASTB I studied this practice test http://www.columbia.edu/~mmx1/astb/ASTBgouge.pdf, as well as the ARCO book. I also used my old college math and physics notes to study as well, and I qualified for pilot. A few of the questions from the link were actually identical...
