1st SNA
Well, my recruiter said that since I'm out of school I can't improve my GPA, and I actually took the ASTB a second time and scored 8/8/8 58. I can re-apply sooner if I want to risk using my last test chance, but I already have a pretty decent score and don't want it to go down. Those are the...
I was up for SNA this month and was not selected. I guess I have to wait 6 months before applying again. :( It's a tough pill to swallow, especially when you're done with college and you have to wait 6 months.
What I mean is, I keep hearing that it's not easy to get picked up again. I keep getting threats about rejecting NFO. The recruiters are saying "Just remember what we have all told you about re-applying." Oh well, I want to be a pilot.
A recruiter at my NRD told me it is the same board who...
I'm in the same situation. The reason I put down pilot and NFO is because my recruiter told me to. I only wanted pilot, and I wasn't aware that I couldn't easily reject NFO and re-apply for pilot. It was a misunderstanding, and the recruiter didn't tell me that if I got picked for NFO it would...
I want to be a Naval Aviator more. I'm a pilot, and that's what my passion is. While I love all aspects of aviation, being a pilot is my heart and soul. Serving as an Officer at the same time puts the icing on top...nothing better. I put down NFO, because my recruiter told me to. I really only...
Another officer recruiter called me today and talked to me for about 20 minutes. Basically, this is going to be the hardest decision of my life. If I reject NFO, and reapply for pilot, the board may just look at my application and laugh it off as they never accept me again. Then I will regret...
I think I'm going to reapply. I hope if I reject NFO, my chances as an Officer in the Navy aren't done, and I hope the Navy will pick me up again. But I have to stay motivated, and get what I want. I'll reapply until they take me in, even if my chances ARE slim to ge to picked up again. My...
Now he changed it and said that it is very very hard to get picked up again once you reject your first pro-rec. He asked a 19 year NFO to call me up to give me the details about the job beforeI make any decisions. He is supposed to call soon. One of the things he will talk about is the...
You are right. I would love to serve as an Officer in the U.S. Navy as an NFO. However, I am a pilot. I have spent endless amount of time and money on building hours and gathering ratings. Now all I want to do is fly with the best of the best in the business, while representing the country as a...
I received word today that I was Pro-Rec for NFO, however, I am in the same boat as USNMark. I had pilot as my first choice and NFO second, because my recruiter recommended it. But being a pilot in the Navy has been a dream I don't want shattered. I asked him if I could deny that choice and...
Do you know how the waiver process works after getting the enhancement? I wonder if you have to just wait out the 3 month waiver after getting the enhancement. Also, what is your right eye's vision?
Does anybody here have experience with the PRK touch up procedure? I had surgery done on March 22, and my left eye may or may not correct down to 20/20. I had my procedure done at TLC with the enhancement surgey included in my package.
Does the Navy dislike the touch-up process?
PRK Waiver
Concerning the waiver, does anybody know how it will work for me if my right had a pre-op diopter less than -6.00 (good for a 3 month waiver), but my left eye was right at -6.00 pre-op (good for a 6 month waiver). Does that mean I'll have to wait the full 6 months?
Healing
I'm probably just freaking out, but I had PRK done on March 22, and I had a check-up today, May 2. My right eye is about 20/25 and my left 20/40. Obvioulsy, it's been over a month, and I hope I get to 20/20 or better. Does anyone who had the procedure done have the same experience, and...
I have PRK next Thursday. My recruiter never gave me any paperwork to bring. I just assumed that I can get copies of all the paperwork from pre through post op. However, I did print out the refractive surgery consent form from the NOMI Web site. What other paperwork do I need?
I took the ASTB for NAVY...my recruiter emailed my application to me to start working on...I'm applying for pilot...and I have been doing my research on NOMI for sometime. Obviously, I cannot submit my application until I get the surgery.
The next step for me is to just pick my doctor and go in...
Does any one here know if the PRK limits for the Navy and Marines are the same. Meaning, a Marine officer came to my school and I asked him about PRK and told him I have a consultaion on the 21st of this month...he told me before I go in for the visit, to run by his office and grab a paper to...
Today I was talking with a Marine captain about my vision being bad, probably around 20/600 or 700, and he said "You're f****ed." It was kind of a gut check like how does he know for sure. My goal is to continue to OCS for the Navy after college graduation next May, but I do need to get my PRK...
With PRK becoming so common in the Navy these days, would anyone here think a person with laser surgery and a waiver for it is a less competitive pilot candidate than a person who has naturally great vision? I mean if two identical persons were trying to get f-18s, and the only difference in...
ASTB scores expire?
If I take the ASTB within, say this month, and the scores are very good, will they stand forever? Or will they expire after a certain amount of time, requiring me to re-take it?
Thanks
I wear soft contacts now and my vision prescription is -5.50 in my left eye and -5.25 in my right. Is there any other option for me besides PRK? Does anyone here believe that the http://www.rebuildyourvision.net/ Web site works by just doing eye exercises. The pilot from www.fighter-pilot.org...
Other options for bad vision
I wear soft contacts now and my vision prescription is -5.50 in my left eye and -5.25 in my right. Is there any other option for me besides PRK? Does anyone here believe that the http://www.rebuildyourvision.net/ Web site works by just doing eye exercises. The pilot...
I'm 20 years old but my vision is still changing. The last time I went for my yearly exam was around November of 2005, and even then my prescription was different. Does this mean I will have to wait to get my application together until my eyes are stable? It's horrible to think that I can't...
Great guys, thanks. As for PRK, should I just go ahead and find my own local doctor and set up my own appointment? As long as I keep the paper work from the operation, I should be fine?
After thorough thinking and researching, I finally reached my decision to contact a local recruiter to talk about the first steps I should take to becoming an officer in the Navy, and that I'd love to meet or talk over the phone about it with him. I told him I was pursuing a B.S. degree and that...
