Burial at sea. Like a boss.

Rest in peace BzB.

AirWarriors, I received a nice kit in the mail from the crew of the USS Comstock (LSD 45), who performed burial at sea duties for my Father, CDR F. Hugh Magee, and other veterans on 17 JUL 2016. I put the digital photos together into a video sequence, link below. We provided Busybee with a custom sea burial urn instead of the Navy standard issue box (2:05 in the video), thanks to "In the Light Urns," a small company near Lemoore in Visalia/Three Rivers, CA: http://www.inthelighturns.com/

Dad's VA-146 "Band of Blue Diamond Brothers" have purchased a brick in his name, to be placed at the NAS Lemoore Aviator's Memorial (http://aviatormemorial.com/) in the near future. When I get more info I will pass it along. It is my hope to purchase another brick for their 1966-67 VA-146 CO, Captain Albert A. "Shoes" Schaufelberger Jr., who became my own lifetime hero after all the stories my Dad told me about his Leadership prowess http://www.andersonfuneralhomebeaufortsc.com/memsol.cgi?user_id=1312348

Thanks to all AirWarriors who helped to sustain my Dad through the last few years of his life, your virtual relationships meant more to him than you will ever know. May God Bless Naval Aviation and Navy/Marine Corps Aviators!

BZBjr aka MAX Magee

"You can't make this shit up..."
Just saw this on the NAS Lemoore Aviator Memorial's fb page:

"We got to place a special brick in the memorial today. CDR Francis Hugh Magee of VA-146, was the recipient of multiple Military awards including three Distinguished Flying Crosses, Purple Heart, and 24 strike/flight Air Medals. His Vietnam service included 247 combat missions. His daughter Colleen and husband Mark, son Mike and wife Lisa, and his squadron mate Jeff Greenwood and wife Kathy were all in attendance. A great representation by the current members of VFA-146 under the leadership of CDR "Jawa" Shulman who presented the brick to the family. Mr. Bill Douglas, another squadron mate who was unable to attend, also helped the AMA honor this American Hero. Thanks also to to CAG Westendorff and Mr. Stammer for your support."
