MAJOR IRR Policy Change...

On-Site Muster was just posted on the IRR website. How do we know if we have been selected?

IRR members are supposed to maintain their contact info updated. So if selected, they should be able to reach you. I'm surprised they are willing to shell out the money to get people to Fort Worth. I doubt they select many for this...

Good point. I have been in contact with them recently, and should be good. I wonder if they will send out a mass email. Do you think they would do no cost orders? That is what I assumed. I think this is part of the narrow down the IRR plan.

I don't really want to call attention to myself and be a volunteer. Just wanted to see if anyone else saw it or was contacted. It is hard for me to believe that PERS would have the manpower or drive to do a large muster. But who knows.

I just updated my contact info with them and got a response, so I'm also assuming I'm good. Hearing from someone who was selected would be reassuring, though. I might give them a call just before the scheduling deadline if no other info is passed via the website or on here. I don't want to waste their time, but I really don't want to drop to S2 for an assumption...

Good point. I will wait until a few days before 7-13-18 and call them.

Not sure of the type of orders, but this is the first I’ve seen of a IRR check in. Figured virtual is the way to go to minimize cost.

Sensibly this would be limited to those within reasonable driving distance, but for PERS to post this on the website gives the appearance that any IRR member worldwide could be selected.

If that were the case, if a member residing in, say, Seattle got selected for this required event, the Navy would have to foot the travel bill to get them there.

I just don’t see them selecting a large amount...

Don’t freak out.. This happened to me once while I was in the IRR a long time ago. I have since retired (2013 in fact) so my information is dated. But they paid about a 1/2 a drill (I think). Maybe a full drill. It was a fairly big group of of us called in (maybe 40-50 folks jammed in a conference room, over half were FedEx pilots). Gave some PowerPoint and asked a bunch of questions about SelRes opportunities, benefits, and blah, blah. Seemed more like it was a muster to try a recruit us back to SelRes and Q&A session on why we didn’t want to go back to drilling.

... facility for offence.
Yeah, I also participated in one back around 2010.

In addition to what FrankTheTank said happens we also got Height/Weight measurements. Afterwards the HM1 said we needed to exercise more because many of us failed the BMI!:D

The pay was 1 Drill Point based on your Rank/Grade.

I'm sure folks are paid for their time onsite, but I'm more interested in how far did you guys travel? Was it essentially local (i.e. within 2 hour drive)?

Also, @lostSeaBee I don't think this muster has anything to do with an IRR drawdown. I think they are herding the cats to give a sales pitch to get some to come back active SELRES (or more)!!

Local.. Think the farthest folks came from North Mississippi.. Maybe hour drive max

Great points. I always learn something from this site. Based on what has been said it makes more sense that this a plea to return to SELRES than anything else. I'm guessing the site was chosen based on the IRR members in that area with rates, skills, etc that are needed in the SELRES.

Looks like they are more detailed. More Musters to follow.

I feel like this could be a blessing in disguise for folks trying to get to retirement with correspondence courses. You could show up with transcripts, request verification of years/status, bitch about CAC access...
