How long to study for OAR

I studied for 3 weeks and got a 38...But I also had some technical issues where the system kept kicking me off during the exam and the computer shut down twice on me.....so it was also kinda hard to actually take the test.

I’ve seen folks deal with quite a few ASTB glitches and still get good scores. Stop blaming everything but yourself for a crappy score.

How long did you study for the OAR? What score did you get? Thanks
Study until you feel confident about practice materials you're running through. I studied for about 2 weeks but I got a degree that really nailed in the Math/Mechs portion so I didn't have to do much for that. I mostly studied ANIT. I know guys who studied GRE Math and Physics books for 6 months and got 55s.

Okay, this comment was completly uncalled for. I’m not blaming everything for my score. I was just stating a fact about having a stressful test environment. Good for those people that did get good scores. I studied my ass off, and will continue to do so until I can test again. There is no reason to be rude and give an opinion that’s compleatly unhelpful.

No it’s not. If you had truly studied your ass off you should have gotten a much better score.

yep, there was a streak where there were glitches constantly, nearly all still ended up doing just fine, and we had a new building being constructed right outside the window of the test room.

When the ASTB computer was at the local NOSC there was actually two Sailors in a heated argument while a SNA applicant was taking the exam. The recruiters were out during the time only to find out after when the applicant asked “WTF was going out there?”. Kid end up with a 52/6/7/7 score.

well good for those who did well. no one is saying it isn't possible. I was simply stating a statement about the test environment.

Hi,
I recieved very similar feedback when I asked for assistance, I'm not sure why but the level of "rude" is very high here but your situation sounds similar to mines. I have yet to retake due to nerves and feeling truly ready. Have you retaken yet?

Good morning,
I think it really depends on your academic background (physics, math, and reading comprehension). I took about 3 weeks of studying an hour or so a night. Mine was mostly just reviewing some physics concepts I had not seen in a year or two though with a small amount of reading comprehension refreshers. My big takeaway for the reading section is to not assume anything that is not explicitly stated in the text provided. To the best of my memory, the math section did not go beyond basic probability with some introductory calculus. Physics was mostly simple machines, mechanical advantage and a few kinematic questions. Good luck!
Disclaimer: I did not take the ASTB portion as it was not required for my specific program application. Adjust expectations accordingly if you are applying for anything aviation related.
