1. Yes. If you fail RLP the first time, you have another shot the next day. If you fail that, then you roll.

2. That’s false. They don’t arbitrarily roll a certain percentage of the class for anything.
Thank you Caesium for your response. It is much appreciated!

Guys,

Just swore in today. Recruiter mentioned that people have been getting warned prior to arriving about getting in shape etc.

He presented a sheet with the times necessary to not roll on the initial PRT. I was floored. The times he listed for males aged 20-24 on the 1.5 mile was 16 minutes or something of that nature. I was under the impression that the IST was supposed to be satisfactory medium which would be like 13:15.

What’s the word on this guys?

That whole 16 minutes thing is for enlisted RTC if I’m not mistaken .. we have to be able to pass the IST with at least a Sat Med.

I am the current Deputy Director at OCS, and I am the one who drafted the new IST policy. This information is wrong. If you do not perform with at least a SAT/MED on every event during the IST, you will be sent home.

This is what I thought as well. Thank you for clarifying. Was the situation really that bad with other candidates?

I am currently testing at good-medium across all exercises so I’m not overly worried, but does this mean if I get sick and underperform on my IST week 1 that there’s no second chance?

I’m also curious about the role “sharking” will play in this .. will they still be deducting reps here and there and reducing our numbers? That will make it much easier to get kicked.

If you're only looking at the minimums you won't make it through OCS. There's a lot more to strive for than just barely cutting it. Look at the maximum numbers and set those as your targets and then you won't have to worry about how they count the repetitions.

Only if you have poor form.

If you have decent form, you’ll be fine. Don’t overthink it, just make sure you’re doing push ups and sit ups according to navy standards.

Someone posted a memorandum to our class FB page that said that this would only be the case if you didn't make SAT/MED on the run, otherwise you'd be tested again in two days. If you failed the push-ups/curlups then you'd be placed in holding, and then in three weeks given another IST at which point if you didn't pass all 3 you would be sent home.

so I'm currently in the process of putting my packet together. I took my ASTB back in February and haven't talked much with my recruiter since then because he's been ignoring my calls and hasn't responded back to emails. I emailed him about my ASTB scores recently and he said he would reach out to the processor and get them but I haven't heard from him since. Overall he hasn't been doing a great job at making this thing easy since he's hard to get ahold of and hasn't provided much info in regards to what I need to complete my packet. It's difficult to get to him in person because he's an hour away from me and my school/work schedule is packed each day of the week.
Basically, I'm just trying to find out what else that is required from me. Is there an ocs applicant site or checklist I can see? the only things I HAVE so far is the basic blueprinting paperwork, medical records, birth certificate, and ASTB scores

No. There’s a possibility your OR could be pushing applications with due dates this week. I would give him a call tomorrow to touch base on your scores.

Thanks, he actually called me this morning surprisingly

Another stupid question:

I may need to get a septorhinoplasty procedure done in a month or so. I deviated my septum pretty bad a few months ago. Will this procedure require me to wait a certain period of time (say 6 months) before I can swear in? Or just until I'm recovered?

Stupid question: Does military health insurance coverage kick in the second you swear in or the second you get to OCS or at some other point?
