I spoke with CNRC today and I was told that “Alternate” will go to OCS once the quotas become available and that could be any fiscal year. It feels good to hear that straight from the horse’s mouth. Thank you all for sharing information.
Yea.... As a primary I was told late summer or fall to ship.

I was one of the alternates. I was just told today by my chain of command that alternates will only go to ocs if one of the primaries cant go and if they all go and complete ocs, I will have to reapply next year. Theyre saying it is different this year compare to the previous years where alternate just use the next FY quota.

Oh wow that’s really different!

I just find out I'm non-selected for the 7th time. Hopefully next year. Also trying LDO. Good luck everyone.

It's probably time to consider other OCS/officer options. As an AW, you're probably at a disadvantage against folks like ATs, AEs, etc. who have more exposure to the aviation maintenance side in the Fleet. I forgot if you have a masters degree or not but it's like advisable that you consider pursuing one.

Thank you RUFiO181 for your post. For OCS purposes the AMDO is my only option because my age (40) and my field of expertise. I understand that AT's, AE's, etc have an advantage because in theory they are more exposure to maintenance. However, as an AWF I have the same exposure to it, the difference is that I fly once in a while. I am a QAR headed over to maintenance control with no apparent flaws in my package. I also have a MA in Organizational Leadership. I am a little frustrated because I can see the posts of people less qualified than I being selected. Like I mentioned before, I will continue applying until I get selected or not longer eligible.
Thanks again.

Best of luck. I'm sure you're as qualified as most of us. I applied as a civilian, so the application is different, but if you need any help, or wish to see parts of my application, I'd be more than happy to help out.

Don’t take this the wrong way, if you were truly more qualified than individuals here who got selected... you should have gotten selected.

Perhaps your concept of what the board is looking for isn’t what the actual board is looking for...

Get your SFF and you should be solid!

I hope your right! That will be amazing if that is the case. If I dont have to reaapply, I woudnt mind waiting to class up even if it is a year or so from now. I think my CoC did talk to the OCM though. I wonder if the info from the CNRC is more accurate than the OCM or maybe its just a mix up of info. Given the gravity of this situation, it might be a good idea to hear it from both of them.

What you CoC is telling you is nothing like I have heard even. I have heard from the OCM my self that primaries won’t class up most likely til later this year and alternates well after that. I mean Kandyce was an alternate and was also selected for LDO. Why would she be given an option if it wasn’t a guarantee? I’m pretty sure at some point you will get a date!

I hope you are right bro. That is what I thought it was too until they told me this morning that it change this year. I probably need to call CNRC and OCM to verify.

Jorge,

For what it is worth, I was selected for DCO AMDO (arguably more competitive than OCS AMDO) as an AWF1 without a Masters. I too had a heavy maintenance background (W/C 13B LPO and FS QAR but no SFF). I submitted 7 packages (including STA-21, Flying CWO, LDO, and DCO) before they got tired of saying “no.” My point is, keep applying for OCS and LDO and working your butt off to get your SFF and SOY. In the end, you’ll either get commissioned, make MCPO, or some combination of both- I was selected for CPO while waiting for the results from my last DCO package. Keep your head up and good luck!
