In my experience between the 3 recruiters I've had, none of them seem to be very knowledgeable. Most of my answers I got from AW and not my OR. And not returning my calls and emails for weeks was a bonus from all of them.

Unfortunately, I don't have the privilege to stop by the office as often as I'd like, since I am 2.5 hrs away. Would I be screwing myself even more by seeking out a new recruiter out of another office? That is just piss poor treatment

Define close. I've been battling MEPS paperwork for the last two months. Recruiter 2 claimed that he submitted everything back in August, then I found out from recruiter 3 that MEPS is asking for more detailed information, which I sent to recruiter 2, two months ago. The circle never ends. I've had everything besides MEPS completed in mid May, '15. As soon as I got my citizenship in April, '15, I've been charging hard to complete everything they've asked me to.If it is submitted or close to it, just stay with him, if not then you could look at changing

Quotas or not, how we treat people initially says a lot to the prospective candidate. There is no excuse to not be courteous, respectful, and professional when dealing with folks who are trying to join OUR profession. Let's face it, there are a LOT of lazy, complacent and in many cases, incompetent recruiters out there. The candidate is the customer, not the recruiter.Exactly. He/she has a quota and if you don't fall with it you might be put in the back burner.
Why should the Navy spend money to send you to Guam when it’s you asking the Navy to make you an officer? If the Navy was head hunting you, it would be a different story. But at this point in time with the number of people wanting to be a SNA they have no reason to spend on you.
Get yourself to Guam and show them you’re worth future spending.
Just saying...
Since you're a DoD dependent, you might want to do some research and legwork about Space-A to get yourself down there. http://www.amc.af.mil/Home/AMC-Travel-Site/Completely valid point and I had the same mindset, I was going to fly myself out there but when I told my OR, he just said to wait and let the Navy pay for it since that's what they do for applicants who are located in the far east regions.
The last thing I was trying to do was disobey the OR's instructions.

It won't cost you nor the government anything, and you'll build your credibility with your OR even if he still wants you to wait it out until the Navy budgets travel money for applicants like you.
Hi All,
i know this post is old but I have been having issues with my OR. Im currently in S. Korea with my wife who is active duty Navy and the closest OR I found was in Guam. I'm trying to go SNA and have been trying to schedule a visit to Guam to get MEPS, ASTB and final documents finished. The OR keeps telling me there isn't money in the budget to fly me out but hasn't given me an expected date. I've been trying since late July and the OR said they didn't have money and after the new fiscal year in Oct, still says there isn't enough money. Am I being yanked? Should I just fly back to the states and find another OR?
All advice will be greatly appreciated.
