OCS 18 SEP 17 | IWC Board

Thanks for the clarification and the class. I was passing the info that I was given, and all of the recommendations that were in my first package were also in my second. I knew appraisals were only good for a year, as stated, but why would someone's recommendation for you change for you as a potential Officer if you don't get picked up on your first shot? My packages were submitted within a year from each other, and I did make multiple changes to my application as well as new LORs. PROREC-Y.

Their recommendation may not change, but it doesn't matter because that is what NRC wants.

You are an anomaly, the best chance for selection is on the first board, the boards could care less if you applied just once or ten times, it is about best qualified. Looking at your degree and GPA, then combine that with the fact you are AD IT would make you a better than average candidate.

I have had a candidates application rejected by NRC because the LOR's were over 6 months old

This is what is so disappointing about the whole process.

I have an LCDR who is the "Command OCS Representative" who has been helping me put together & review my package. I had a letter of recommendation (which I could have easily had them resign a new one) that was dated almost a year ago when I began working on this package.

During our deployment cycle, being forward deployed, it was difficult getting the package completed expeditiously. When I was done, I asked about the date of my letter and our Command Rep said to leave it since I was a 3rd Class when it was written and the "board would see the improvement and consistency in my performance"

NavyOffRec, how did you find out THAT is why they were declined? How can we find out what was one of the reasons we didn't make board? Is that not what Mr. Paul Celestin does - ensures your package is good to go and put it up to the board?

NRC rejected the application and said the LOR's were out of date, they had to be redone then we resent the application.

I have seen many "OCS coordinators" at commands who knew absolutely nothing about the OCS process, or knew just enough to be dangerous.

I am loving BOL right about now. At-board-list confirmed for this board, hate to be the last man standing without a confirmed proreq-no or Y. I'm not pinging my command. Coming up on a PRD, extension to contract or PCS and attempt again FY20 or FY21? WTB BOL update please!

It's killing me. Our commands exchange server is having issues so, since of where my last name lands, I can't get into my email right now. We are in the middle of our 3M inspection as well and the whole ship's CoC is extremely busy although right before typing this I asked my CoC to ask the CO for me.

I do not love BOL because I just see a blank screen with my name in big blue letters :(

Pro-rec no x2. I guess a masters in IT management with a 3.83 GPA is not competitive enough.......

Any non tech degree is a longshot, not sure about this board but often there are so many non tech that apply that the actual selection rate for non tech is much less than the 10% average, several years ago for a few boards when you added up the number of non tech that applied to the non tech selected it was like 3%
