My Introduction to Air Warriors

Hello all--I figure it's time to introduce myself as I begin to be more involved in the forums. I've learned a lot from you all in the last few months (most importantly: to use the search bar), and I hope to be able to give back to the community as I become more invested in Naval Aviation.

As for who I am: I am a 17 year old male currently living in the Bay Area of California. 10 days from now, I will move into my undergrad college--UC Santa Cruz--where I will be majoring in Astrophysics and Electrical Engineering. When not hidden in my dorm room on a pile of overpriced textbooks, you'll probably find me:

  • playing rugby
  • hopefully working in the local SC Fire Dept. volunteer company
  • composing/performing music
  • reading
  • writing
  • getting mobbed by student protesters
  • cooking
  • practicing the trombone/marimba/piano
  • working out
  • biking
  • getting my PPL
  • hiking
  • volunteering for politicians that will hopefully not be corrupt
  • swimming
  • using the telescope
  • fruitlessly browsing Craigslist for good GM squarebodies
  • playing War Thunder
  • lovingly reading General Mattis' Wikipedia page
  • doing whatever crap college students are up to nowadays

I will be applying for the USMC OCS, hopefully through PLC. Like most impressionable men under the age of 99, my initial hope is to get into the jet pipeline as a SNA (and then, if possible, to get into a VMFA(AW) squadron).

If you spot me on AW in the future, you'll probably find that I'm a little sarcastic, yet super gung-ho and ridiculously passionate about whatever I'm doing at the time. Maybe I should become a DI instead.

But anyway, thank you guys for being such an open and accommodating community, and I hope that you'll be able to put up with my occasionally dry humor.

Welcome to AW! :)

So...if you're majoring in Astrophysics and EE, will you realistically have any time to do even 1 of the bullets on your 19 bullet list? ;)

Regardless, you sound like a go-getter and I wish you well regarding your endeavors. :)

Realistically, getting mobbed by protestors is the only certainty! :(

But really, thank you so much! I'll do my best.

Welcome to AW...your list is disappointing as I don't see anything about college girls on there.

Santa Cruz girls are mostly "Wilderness Girls". Remember, UC Santa Cruz doesn't give grades to undergrads, it's a narrative grading process using pass and fail. The vast majority of students aren't traditionally religious, as they worship the 3 W's. Weed, Whites and Wine. OP, Are you sure you want the MIL lifestyle?

Let me tell you buddy, I'll be around so much secondhand weed smoke in college that I'll probably test positive in every urinalysis. Sounds like I'll be discharged anyway

If you get accepted to PLC, make sure you let your Platoon Sgt, and Sgt Instructor know your list of interests, they love that shit.

On a serious......good luck.

I almost took that first sentence seriously before doing a double take. That'd sure be a scene

It's also disappointing that his list doesn't say anything about Math Club*...which he'd be a shoe-in for since he'll be majoring in Astrophysics and EE...and...there may be some pretty hot Math Club* girls. :D

*Note: The first rule about Math Club is not to talk about Math Club. :D
