Correspondence Course Review

I am working through the NETC NEETS courses, pretty technical, but the questions are pretty straight forward. I concur with Sam I am on the NETC website and courses.

Howdy all,

This thread has been super informative, many thanks. I'm newly new to the IRR and working to earn points to get satisfactory years towards retirement. A little about me, I've got 14 years of a combination of active, SELRES, IMA, and IRR. Infantry Marine, E-7, in North Texas.

I have to say, I feel incredibly fortunate that I don't have to manually submit certificates and wait/hope they're entered for points, all the while having little to no visibility as to what they amount to. Shockingly the USMC has a decent personnel system that allows Marines to login without a CAC to check their annual retirement points at any time. Marinenet courses are also automatically credited to a Marines' Annual Retirement Credit Report (I promise I'm not making that name up). Sounds like the Navy has some catching up to do in that regard. Sorry to hear it's such a pain for you guys/gals.

The USMC also has a list of "Non-Marine correspondence courses approved for retirement points". Some of the NETC courses are on it, but listed in the NKO section. Also included on our list are War College (ARMY & NAVY), Air University, JFCS, DAU, DCAI, CFCJCS, DINFO, JSOU, FAI, FEMA, and Joint Forces Online courses.

Anyway I look forward to contributing and watching this thread grow. Best of luck to you salt-dogs out there.

Just completed Aviation Electronics Technician (Intermediate) NAVEDTRA 14029A - 11 pts. Worth the effort. Extremely dry material.

Wow the Navy Customer Service and PERS-93 are rock'n. I sent in two different emails on courses and received the response back in a day. PS2 (AW/SW) Frost is doing a great job.

Put in a positive customer service comment for the PS2 if you think the kudos are warranted. There should be a weblink to something called an ICE comment. It'll get back to him/her in a good way.

I called the IRR help line and got Frost..he was excellent and very helpful. Confirmed all my points from last year and sent me my points summary. I emailed an ICE comment in and got a thank you from the other end and assurances it would find it's way to Frost.

Customer service...boom. That happened.

Did he confirm the points right there or simply acknowledge that he had received them? Also, what email did you sent it to exactly? I just finished a batch of points and am almost ready to send them in.

He sent me confirmation emails that the points were forwarded them to PERS-912. He also checked on some points that I re-submitted in January 2017 when I realized my first submission from May 2016 had not been recorded. I sent it to ronnie.frost@navy.mil and IRR_Courses@navy.mil. Nothing new, except for the POC, just very happy with the quick turn-around.

Just received my Certificate of Retirement and I must say it's an enormous relief. The last 5-6 years were real nail biters to say the least. This blog and everyone who regularly contributes to it has been an incredible resource... you guys know who you are. I wish everyone who is still fighting to get to the 20-year mark the very best.... keep pressing!

Congrats! Get on the Space-A thing and tell the rest of us if it's actually viable!

Anybody else having problems logging into NETC? Have had no problems previously but not able today.
I tried this morning and got the following message: "An error occurred when connecting to DEERS." I tried using MS Explorer and the same thing happened. I have received that message before, but I would just keep trying and it would eventually work. I tried logging in six times, but still received the same message. I also tried to reopen the page with just the web address, and still got the same result. Something may be amiss.

I submitted a NETC help ticket and emailed the USMAP Support and NRTC Support. I received a robo reply email with a ticket number. I'll let you know if I receive anything regarding access to NETC.

I can't log in on my work computer where I have to enter through my DEERs data, but my home computer (Mac) takes me right to the Terms of Usage page, click okay...I'm in.

I also just registered for three math courses Stats, Trigonometry, and Pre-Calc. We'll see how bad this hurts...might hurt a lot.
