So if anyone memorizing all of appendix b before OCS. Not sure if I have time for this lol, however I do have some of it memorized just from being AD.

Yeah. From what I have heard it will benefit you greatly to know the knowledge verbatim prior to showing up so that you can focus on all of the other meticulous things for inspections like folding items correctly & having them in the right spot.

I am working on it, what are some strategies you guys are using for the memorization of Appendix B.

I tend to write out portions of what I'm trying to memorize repeatedly. I think it helps the brain retain the info. For example, writing the 1st general order 10 or 20 times (whatever it takes to memorize).....that's what helps me.

I spend a day or 2 on each portion... rinse and repeat. Started with creed, Then general orders, then code of conduct. Keep working different parts.

Hey man, I figure all you priors have a leg up on me on this stuff, gotta try to do what I can to make up for the fact that I'll drill like a baboon at first haha. Since you don't have a ton of time, focus on the Chain of Command, Articles of the Code of Conduct, and General Orders, since everyone says those are fair game early on.

For me, I read one line out loud and repeat it to myself over and over again. I would choose a handful each day, and go through what I had learned and what I had learned the previous day. I'd repeat it to myself at work, in traffic, etc. Now on my long runs, like on Saturdays when I do like six miles, or if I can't fall asleep, I'll sing the songs and go over all the orders/articles/ranks & insignias/traits in my head and out loud.

I think the only ones I have left to memorize are the levels of warfare and strategic goals, as well as the definitions for all the traits after 'Bearing.' It feels like a lot at first, but it's amazing how much you can remember and how fast you can spit it all out if you try.

Checking in for May 8th. IWO selectee. Can't wait to see you all there!

Flashcards have been working well for me. I've been doing them between sets at the gym since January. As for the songs I've just been playing them on youtube and singing along. Can't seem to find a version of Anchors Aweigh that is sung in the same order in the gouge section, but I just skip around the video.
