Hello all,

I did not see a thread for the 29 May 2016 OCS class yet so figured I would start one. Found out this week I will be in that class. If anyone else is feel free to reply.

Got the verbal message from TN, I will be in this class. I suggest we should all get together the day before our class date just to get to know each other little bit.

Hello ABE1. Good to know I won't be the only active duty in the class! I think it's a great idea to get together the day before. I am planning to fly up to Newport, and I don't have detailed orders yet so I don't know my report date. I will post up when I find out.

Great, I will be driving from Florida because i want to bring some uniform items there. As the class date approaches we can plan something out to get together. Any ideas or suggestions free feel to share.

I am also planning to bring some uniform items, but I am trying to avoid driving up there if possible. I plan to bring my NWU items (man I hate those boots) and my PT gear. I think that is all that we can re-use as officers; correct me if I am wrong though.

I do have a couple questions that you may know the answer to:
1 - Do we as prior enlisted get leave right after OCS?
2 - How does the PCS move work for us? My wife is staying here in North Carolina while I am at OCS, so I am curious when/how the move will be taken care of.

Hey guys - I was ProRec'd on the 24Feb board for SNA - also active duty AWF1. When were you all prorec'd? I have seen a LOT of guys from the 24Feb board get FINSEL and class dates already, but I have no word. I am hoping for the 8 or 29 May class.

Ill keep yall posted, but I am just waiting here in purgatory for FINSEL!

Hey Pete, I asked a few guys this question also - both were recent OCS grads as prior E's also. They said that they drove and were able to negotiate orders and (some) leave in between OCS and their next station. They were both going to API for aviation, so it was not a PCS move and they weren't paid, but they did have adequate time to drive and pick up their families and so forth. Another FINSEL guy also told me that he has spoken with some order writers and that initial orders are only TO OCS, then you can negotiate from there and if you drive it will be much easier or they will buy you a plane ticket straight to where youre going to - and they will buy it during your Candio phase. I hope this helps a little - but try reaching out to some guys in the threads from your designator - like the API or SWO schools. Those guys will likely have some great info, but may not be reading these threads.

Best of luck and I hope to see you guys there!

Im pretty sure its a PCS DOD reg states that any school after basic training or OCS is a PCS... I mean there are many priors here not only Navy who are bringing their families along to Pensacola... On Orders im sure... No one is going to hack up the money to do such a costly move, especially right after OCS.

Im sure their is more to come in regards to this!

In regards to class date I got my verbal confirmation from my processor last Friday! Looks like there are a couple of us priors here!

I will be flying in given that I am stationed up here in Montana....

So, found guidance pretty much if your married it counts as a PSC on the flip side, if you aren't married a.k.a single/solo dolo its a TDY to P'Cola.

The attachment here is the OCS Survivor's Guide. I highly recommend reading it from front to back. It was last updated by an OCS grad in January so it is very current and relevant.

Well, I'm checking in for this class. I found out earlier today. I guess I'm the first non-prior to post on here. Looking forward to it, and meeting you all.

Thanks for the survivor's guide Chop07, much appreciated. That helped answer some of the questions my wife had about graduation and how she can communicate with me.

Welcome to the thread NavyFlier325. Look forward to meeting you.

As May gets closer all of us in the class can attempt to meet up the day before check-in for introductions and to relax before the fun begins.
