I had the opportunity to attend the 2008 NAS Oceana airshow last weekend and have put together a quick little 'photo album' on a web page at: http://www.lucky-devils.net/g9/g9oceana.html

I invite you to take a look!

Thanks guys! Would love to see the shots from Saturday - although as you said, the weather was awful.

Saturday we took the kids over to Norfolk and toured the USS Wisconsin, It might not be aviation, but it was unbelievably impressive. I've been on the USS North Carolina down in Wilmington a couple of times, but BB-64 makes her look like a bathtub toy...

Nice shots! Just curious, were you just using the "Apperture Priority" setting for the night shots? Enjoyed the pano's, too.

Wow, Patty Wagstaff looks different...and kind of scary.

She totally blew off my uncle. We got to meet her. She walked right up to my uncle and I and asked if we wanted an autographed picture (which was actually an ad for Cirrus). My uncle was like "...no thanks."

So my uncle, who was a stash Ensign at Top Gun (Miramar) back in the day - told her they actually met once when she came for a ride in an F-16.

She goes - "I've ever been to Miramar - you must be thinking of someone else" Turns and walks away.

I laughed my ass off. Good times.

Thanks for all the views and comments, it really was a great weekend, which makes it pretty easy to take pics. The nighttime photos were actually pretty simple, in full manual on a tripod most of the exposures were 15 seconds with the apature wide open. The most difficult part was waiting until there were no people in the way. I was pretty happy considering I was using my Canon G9 point-and-shoot.

As I said, the Wisconsin was impressive. Although the BB's were expensive to operate, it's sad that they are now sitting in museums rather than being out at sea (perhaps off the Venezuela coast...?) BB64 is actually still in the inactive fleet and the public is not allowed belowdecks as she is kept in a condition where she could be reactivated.
