0-7 anyone? :D

It's more than a bullet for him. It's his whole job. Sadly, he'll be gone before the second and third order effects come to pass.

Found the mins and maxes for the test. I wonder if the Navy is going to develop something similar using skills useful on board ship, etc? I wouldn't be opposed in theory to doing it, though I'm not exactly sad I don't have to do this CFT. Looks very painful.

Just gone done reading this, Maybe it is my now outside of the corps mentality but this whole thing seems completely half-assed.

As previously stated it appears that no consideration went into units other than grunt battalion's time constraints. I would not be surprised to see a whole bunch of waivers come 01 Oct 09. Look at the min max numbers, 2:14 what kind of shit is that how hard is it to round that to 2:15, same goes for a maximum of 91 ammo can lifts is 90 to easy and 92 impossible?

I have spent some time on a few Navy vessels. Now I am not trying to bust anyone's balls, but what exactly would a "Navy CFT" encompass? Thoughts anyone?

I'm curious, is the CFT going to done in addition to the current PFT or does it replace it?

It will be done IN ADDITION to the PFT. The PFT will still be scored, but the CFT will just be pass/ fail.

Here is my concern with the CFT... When I was with my artillery and infantry battalions, getting all of the Marines out for the PFT was not that big of a deal. We had more than enough time in our training schedules to knock everyone out in one day. In the wing, this is not the case. Scheduling the entire squadron means a loss of over 500 hours of man-hours working on the aircraft--and the PFT only takes a couple of hours!! With the CFT (which by the way can't be administered on the same day as the PFT), we are talking AT LEAST an all day event to properly organize and supervise the event. I am a big fan of the body composition program, and yes, there are certainly a few more "soft bodies" in the wing than in the ground combat element. Unfortunately, there are certain tradeoffs that must be taken into consideration if we want all of our jets/ helos flying as much as possible.

It doesn't mean a loss of 500 man hours, it just means that you will have to make up that 500 man hours over the next few weekends. ;)

In all seriousness, I think there will be some truth to that.

Not will be - is. The loss of 500 man hours is what currently happens for the PFT. Throw in a CFT and see what happens... Squadrons should revolt and follow the 0730-1630 schedule of the grunts, making sure we hit all the wickets that they require (PFT, CFT, MCMAP, BST, etc) and then point out the flawed logic in all these requirements when we pop as not combat capable.

I can dream, can't I?
