Suzie retired about five years ago and that barbershop closed! (She came up to Whiting from Ellyson Field in the 1970s and she spent her last years on the job in the barber shop at the Q.) I last ran into her at a little diner in Pace, about a year after she retired, and she was as happy as ever.

"Beer machine," ahh, you really old guys and your beer machine legends.

Speaking of putting quarters into machines, I will say that when I was a flight student, many moons ago, with an appropriate tip after buying a pitcher from the bar at the Q, the pool table would become miraculously unlocked.

Lesson for the young'uns, you'll never get rich by being tipping cheap and life is more fun when you tip generously. ;)


(But I still suck at pool.)
