What are the post-Navy career prospects for those Sailors, as compared to xj220? Not judging, as I like good tattoo art.

But your comparison is irrelevant.
His concern was not with his post-Naval career but with that of the current employer with whom he has expressed a desire to maintain status.

Those of us who are in a tattooed status don't want some pussy who is worried about the "rules" joining us and ruining the club.

Completely relevant and fuck his career!!

I don't have any tattoos at the moment. Was just Pro Rec'd for OCS. Was wondering if and when I can get a tattoo now or if I should wait till if/when I am commissioned or even after that. Feedback is appreciated thank you!

I don't know for certain but I really believe waiting until you commission is probably best. I also don't imagine a raw, fresh tattoo would feel great trying to heal at OCS if you end up leaving in a short time.

Don't get a tattoo until after OCS. You will/already have signed a form saying you will not get tattoos between now and after OCS.

I'm waiting for the 11JUL17 SNA/SNFO board to convene on my packet, and I've definitely signed at least one waiver promising not to get any new tattoos until after commissioning. My recommendation is "no," with a dash of "ask your NOR."

My OR mentioned this form to me once when I asked if I could get a new tattoo, he just didn't expand on the duration it was valid. That's good to know, even though I didn't plan on any new ones until after the fact anyway. Thanks RUFiO.

From what I understand, it has a lot to do with the MEPS portion of in-processing. Ideally, nothing new gets added to the file at this stage.
