So is this the next step?
Anyone wanna give me the rundown of how FINSEL works?
Will this letter in the mail tell us our OCS date?
Is FINSEL The actual letter? I don't know too much beyond this point 0.o

Finally checking out of Purgatory! I was an OCT board guy and age critical and it still took them time. I heard they had issues with background check and I had to do the fingerprints over again a few times, but regardless of what's going on, have faith you'll get in, follow up accordingly with your recruiter and, most of all, be patient! Headed in for May 24th Class, so if anyone is going to be in that one, hit me up!

@mz247, the letter is electronic, so your recruiter will send it to you. You then swear in and sign the contract after that.

Got the Pro Y the other day, just checking in here now. My buddies in the service from previous Pilot boards have gotten their final select orders anywhere from 2 to 4 weeks, so I am hoping that we have a similar wait period.

Nice, well hopefully
Although I'm mentally prepared for a couple months like everyone else is saying 0.o

A few of us FY15 IW selects have been pushed to FY16, and so, while we were being informed of this move, we asked for a time frame of when we might reasonably expect to ship.
If you'd like to get in touch with the individual that writes up the FINSELs for IPs, try giving the OCS Processors a call, and explain your situation. A good justification would be that you are AD, and your command needs an idea of when you might leave in order to complete your EoT award and project/plan for your replacement.

Thanks for the info. I've basically been told the same things by the fleet processors after initially been told to expect a Feb/Mar-15 PCS date. As I'm sure you're experiencing at this very moment, there are so few of IPs and IWs selected on a FY basis which results in fewer allocated OCS seats. I'll be gracious for any report date at this point but I'd REALLY like to be in one of the first FY-16 classes... I can't possibly bare another sweltering, ridiculously humid summer in Okinawa. Either way, I was informed FINSEL letters should be released within the first couple weeks of May for FY classes. Not holding my breath though. After waiting as long as we did for our board results, I had to redefine my own definition of "patience."

I was also told, by my OR, that they won't be releasing any finsel until May. So seems to be a little bit of truth with this if you've been told also.

Can anyone explain how the class date works?
The reason I ask is because I would like 8+ weeks to get all my things in order prior to leaving. How much say (if any) do we have on this?

Thanks.
You should have had a box on your application that asked for the first date you are available to go to OCS. They obviously won't send you before that, so if you accounted for the 8+ weeks in the date you put down you should be fine. If you didn't account for those 8+ weeks, I think you might be able to change it, but I'm not entirely sure. I would talk to your OR about it asap.

They tend to release the FINSEL letters up to 8 weeks prior to the class starting, remember there are already that have been waiting for FY16 classes, so who knows where you are in line to go.
