July Non-selects

This thred is for those that were not selected in the July board. Would love to know how things have been since. What steps you are taking to change the results for the December board? Retaking test, adding more LOR's, changing Motivational statement, etc.

I'm now waiting IDC and Supply board results.. From there I think I may retest and take the entire ASTB and add my name to the NFO hat since they are selecting more than SWO! SWO was my main choice because I assumed they were the largest community and would have the highest selection rate.. I didn't know the ate limit for NFO was different from SNA, so I never looked into it!!

I would say retake again. The selection rate was higher for those with 50s OAR and higher. From what I have been seeing. Your almost there.

Don't you have to take the full ASTB to put in for intel? I thought it was the only designator outside of aviation that required it.

I was NS for NFO and SWO. I turn 27 next June, so I heard I can't reapply NFO because the next board is in December which is less than 6 months away.

Right now I'm up for Intel, which should meet next week.

I'll reapply SWO, if I'm NS for Intel too.

It's frustrating that people with lower ASTB's and GPA's got selected over me for both NFO and SWO. Hope that's not the case for Intel.

Maybe the board looked at the whole person concept.

This is kind of funny, but it was a typo, so OR's had candidates take the ASTB for Intel, finally someone at NRC asked why these Intel guys were taking the ASTB, then the problem was found.

That would be frustrating, but if it's any consolation at least you can isolate the parts of your app that they might not have liked - if people with lower ASTBs and GPAs were selected, it might mean your motivational statement wasn't convincing. Hammering that out could be the difference if you have to reapply in December.

Interesting, I always thought that it was some leftover from back when API was in AOCS, and intel went to AOCS instead of old-school OCS.

I am going to retake my ASTB and apply for the DEC NFO board. My OR stated that the only way you can reapply is if your package has improved to be above the competitive edge, if it hasnt improved then the board wont reconsider the application. So I suggest, if you are really wanting to get on the Dec board, study your A$$ off and retake at the begining of sept time frame to have your package resubmited before Oct to allow for any corrections to take place without rushing.

You can also "improve" your package with getting flight hours/PPL I believe too.
