TS for USMC Pilots

I'm currently in NAS Flight School. My mol says I'm either at Secret Clearance or Secret Clearance Eligible (I'm not really how to interpret it). I was wondering where and when in the pipeline do we get assigned our TS? Do all pilots get it? If so, which ones do or don't?

This isn't something you should be worrying about right now, or even need to really understand. Go learn how to fly...

Contrary to popular belief, chicks don't really care...

Thank you for your response. I care to know because my command is encouraging us to find neighboring courses/MOS schools/OJT's/etc. for PTAD opportunities because our selection pool is so big. Currently, we have very large wait times in between our schools. I found some intelligence schools at Corry Station nearby that will let me take up a spot in the course for PTAD if I had a TS. This is my motive for finding out this information.

You won't get a TS until you hit the fleet, and if you need it. If you tried to get one now, you're not really getting it adjuticated for 6 months or so...

Part of TS is need to know. If your job requires you access to TS material, you'll get it. If your job does not require you access to TS, then you don't get it.

Eventually when you get to the FRS, you will need to read tactics pubs some of which are classified. Your clearance will be commensurate with the access you need to do your job.

While I can't speak for the Marines, in the Navy the vast majority of pilots will not get a TS until they get to their staff (or disassociated sea) tours

Everyone who selects jets has to have a TS before they leave either Kingsville or Meridian. Most guys get the interview done right when they show up.

This.

If you do a TS/SCI application, you will be eligible for that clearance provided everything checks, but you'll still have to get 'read in' before you have any access to TS/SCI material. Wouldn't the people who run the course check up on your clearance, anyway? You could give them a call and ask them if you're eligible.

Drink beer, workout, and chase tail. There will be plenty of work for you to do when you get to the fleet. Enjoy the free time in flight school while you can. Getting an AMOS may just give them an excuse to get rid of people when the sine wave hits the extremes.

I apologize for the earlier "dismissal" of your concern. Now I understand. I would guess that you could get "most" of what you're interested in with an Interim SECRET. Too early for a TS, as stated above. Were I you, I'd look more for "coolio shit stuff" I could legitimately do on the government dime...heck, I dunno...SCUBA School, a language course (if any are short enough), Range Master (think guns) training, go shoot in the Fleet or Marine Corps shooting matches, fork-lift or crane operator (head-not to MasterBates) school, jump school, parachute rigger training, Ninja training...well, you get the idea. ;)

Really? I assumed everyone got a TS.

I think everyone does, but it's that that we pissant JO's (at least in VP) don't get read in. When I owned EKMS every aircrew officer had TS on the access list (for crypto purposes), but nothing we did was in the orange realm. Whatever. I don't think I'm missing out.

Helo guys, I'd say 90% are secret until dissasociated or DH. Not a whole lot of secrecy to be had while flying plane guard.
