That's a sexy plane right there! It would be a kick to take something that large and pull the kinds of maneuvers they're pulling!

Sweet video, thanks!

... Lifting 1,010,000 lbs? Can't wait to fly one of these one day!
TAKE-OFF ??? That's the "easy" part (r-i-i-i-i-ight). :)

Can you imagine losing an engine while passing V1 ... ???

Or ... can you imagine taking off -- immediately getting an inextinguishable engine fire (or some other get-down-ASAP situation) -- and after turning downwind and staggering through the air & procedure(s) and mebbe dumping (how much good WILL it do at that point??) and going 'dirty' ... and walkin', talkin', chewin' gum, and flyin', too ...

... you now have to muscle-finesse @ 1M # of metal, rubber, fuel, plastic, cargo, AND mebbe pax safely back onto the (possibly wet? heavy X-wind? minimum visibility?) runway at HIGH speeds and 'zero' sink-rate and get the SUPER-WHALE stopped prior to the end of the concrete ... ???

That would be a day to bring your 'A' game. :)

Sounds like one of my max gross weight, hot, high field altitude scenarios I throw at crews in the simulator to test CRM, procedures, terrain avoidance and ability to safely return to the field. Always sucks (for them) when they forget to brief 3ROC :D

Saw one of those things at PMD once. Cleanest aircraft I've ever seen. I'm very glad to see that Boeing has kept the Queen much the same (at least externally) through this major iteration.

Next to the 707, the most beautiful aircraft in the world. I might be a bit biased, though.

Looking forward to some P-8 action

The 747 is beautiful, as much as a fat chick can be. I've always been kind of partial to the Convair 880/990 myself.

Quite a testament to the original design that they're just iterating it at this point and still producing an awesome plane.

The WHALE is indeed a miraculous bird-machine .... it's my 2nd all-time favorite choice to "slip the surly bonds of Earth ... put out my hand, and touch the face of God".

She's strong, has got long legs, she's fast, responsive, and dependable.

Just what you'd want in the 'perfect woman' ... :)

I LOVE HER. :)

Scalloped ???

I'm not seein' what you're lookin' at ... can you put up a pix ???

I think scoolbubba is referring to both fan and hi temp parts of the engine cowlings.

I'm not sure how much aero engineering went into it- other than aesthetic design. You would likely know though. Happy New Years!

I had read the scalloping is for reduced sound emissions. But I'm sure others here know more about that.

Yep, that's what i was talking about.
Guys. Don't kid yourself. He is a shifty Jo that doesn't known what he is talking about. He is probably up to no good also. Something about him I don't quite trust! :)
