Looks like photographer was right on the scene and got a series of shots. These are from the aggy student paper.

Twice I've seen Army Blackhawks land on the SRC field at ASU to pick up ROTC kids.

It was an amazing sight to behold, these big, dark, loud, powerful helicopters roaring onto our recreation field.

Very sad that in this case it ended in tragedy. I hope the survivors pull through in their respective hospitals.

you helo bubs get my respect. it seems like when things go south in a helo down low, it shits the bed in a hurry.

Is that basically what an autorotation looks like? (sorry, no helo experience for this toobslug)

As bad as that impact looked, I'm really impressed with the engineering that got some of those guys out alive. Hope they recover well...

No

In an auto, you keep the nose aligned with heading and get attitudes of 30-40 degrees nose up at an altitude of around 60ft

So anyone care to hash out the helos vs.jet arguement again. Self-preservation says ride the plane with a seat. Respect to helo guys with balls of steel!

Since most of the helo's in the military have Joes in the back that'd be kinda a crappy deal to put rocket chairs in them.

I still love the conversations we have at B Co about who wants to select what. Apaches and Hawks are like rival frat houses that will tell you all about why the other ones gay, 47's are like your non-discriminating friend who is willing to take the fat girl home early, and then there are the scout people.... and we're the crazy ones. Because, as our Cadre (apache) put it, "Its a bitchen mission, but I know more dead 58 guys than anybody else." No Armor, Single Engine, and a flight profile that draws fire.... Sign my ass up.

Wow. I cant believe they dropped him off the strecher after hes been through all that
