The Hornet FRS is in a continual state of flux regarding the specifics of the syllabus, but essentially all that gouge is the same for the unitiated. Just don't f#ck up classified stuff and you'll be good.

There are two different timelines. One when things are supposed to happen (later this year), and one when things will probably happen (later than later this year). If you've already selected Prowlers, you'll be needing one of these:

I dont get it, a VAQ patch? Is that because we're going navy or because we'll still be going to whidbey w/o the Marine unit there.

Until you have orders in your possession telling you to report to Q-4, expect to go to 129.

Based on Q-4's deployment cycle and current transition plan, I doubt that's the case.

Has there been any word from anyone on the syllabus at the Growler RAG? I've heard that they have had a few classes, and I wonder if anyone would mind sharing what they know. I imagine that it's quite different considering that the number of seats has been cut in half and the technology has been vastly improved.

Its because you'll be a Marine in a Navy unit. You'll wear the squadron patch.

There's a Navy LT running around with a VMAQ-4 (I think) patch on. You'll know who I'm talking about when you get here.

The squadron I jsut left started the transition a couple weeks ago. Pretty much the whole firehose thing, even though this is a group of CAT IIs. Lots of CBTs, lots of sims and flight side around week 4, unlike the Prowler side where it takes 4-6 months to get flight side. Many folks are flying 2x per day, so it's pretty fast & furious. First part is all basic proceedures to get the jet flying with tactics to follow later. I imagine the CAT I side takes slightly longer, but not much.

Soft Wing!!

I just soft winged today and should be reporting to 129 in about a month or so for Prowlers. Very excited to get started. Was good to read this over again to see what's in store!!

Yes, they have been for some time. Not a lot of slots, but if you really want it VT-86 will try their hardest to get it for you.
