Primary CCX

Key West - easy flying, been done plenty (no surprises) and its a great time.

Use search function.....Key West, Charleston, Jacksonville in that order is what I would recommend.

I went up to Cherry Point with my skipper on my CCX.... I believe I knocked out a VNAV event as well. Awesome flying through the Smokey MTs.

I went to Nashville. Was a good time. You'll have fun wherever you go. I wouldnt venture too far though. I dont remember those T-34 seats being very comfy at all. My form partner went to Boston. Its really just a matter of finding an instructor who is willing to go with you.

I second this as that was my destination for the X-country and I really enjoyed it. If a Californian could be impressed by Nashville then it must be good.

not sure how many CCX X's you are allowed to do, or what is in the MNTS program, but "back in my day", I flew 12 X's out and back to San Diego, 3 X's a day, including breaking on the way back and spending an extra night in Alberquerque (sp) 4 VNAV's in there as well, which was fun in the NM, AZ, TX area.

If you are a Baseball fan the dodgers and a few other MLB teams have their spring training in Port St. Lucie Florida. Reasonably priced, easy flights.

This time of year I'd avoid going too far north. Key West is always good. Nashville is a great time. I hear Charelston is good. Austin is also a really cool town but it's probably closer to go to Nashville.

I've heard of guys going as far as San Diego and the northeast. I went to Chicago for an airshow. It's all a matter of how much you and your instructor want to be able to feel your asses after sitting on those seats for hours on end.

The real answer to the question asked is: TALK TO YOUR ONWING. He may already have a plan.

It's still roughly the same amount of time in the seat, so don't limit your options because you bum is red.

They keep taking X's away. Depending on the squadron, you may also lose another X. I know there are guys who have recent examples of going to CA from Whiting, but you just can't do it and get the intended quality of training w/out taking up a bunch of Pilot Proficiency time, which Ops won't let happen right now. Of course, that doesn't mean that those that have made it to San Dog didn't have a good time.

My ass doesn't hurt as much as I get a aching pain in my lower right back muscles after about half an hour increasing to a pretty uncomfortable pain by the end of the flight.

Why has Whiting always gotten longer XC's than Corpus?

It seemed that Corpus guys have nominally gotten the "leave Friday morning, be back Sun night" XC, unless its for a static display/airshow, and I know a lot of Whiting guys who went on the road for a week.
