how many push-ups??

100. After we maxed, our DI yelled at us to keep going. Such is life at beautiful OCS....

is that just pushing until failure then keep going? 100 doesn't seem bad.

That is 100 with adequate form for my DI not to call me out or take any away. As in, back straight, knees off the deck etc etc. I believe that was the mid-PRT....which is when you'll be in the best shape at OCS.

Yeah I know 100 is a lot in one set. I didn't know he meant during a timed session but rather push till you cant, rest, push more. When I time myself I can hit 75-80 in 2 minutes so 100 is not impossible. When I train now, I do 50 straight, rest 10 sec. then knock out 10, rest 10 etc. After 100, take a few minutes then go for 30 etc. I think for my age group its 84 pushes to max.

When and why did you have to hit 100 to max? Because of a test or to please the DI?

I made the mistake of telling a DI I could do 100 when I was querried during an inspection. That was a big mistake. He made me keep going.

I definitly can't do 100 now in 2 minutes. Props to those who can.

ok guys, what was the most amount of push-ups you ever did at OCS? sorry in advance for the horrific flashbacks!

The better question is not "how many", but "how long?" The answer depends on your classmates. Sometimes you think you're done pushing until the next beatdown, when you hear your DI scream "Candidate XX's knees are touching the ground - I guess we'll keep going!" I always followed that up with an internal "F*ck me!"

Really? I always followed it up with an internal "fuck him!", but I guess the same was true of me when I couldn't sound off loud enough for my DI. God I miss OCS. :D

If I really push myself, I can do around 70 +/- 2 depending on the day.

I'm sure the personal trainers up at OCS will get me to 100 in no time.

OCS isn't about how many push-ups you can do, but how long you can do them for, and depending on the DI, how long you can either hold the up or half way down position(s).

We had a very popular DI throw us in the grass before chow and proceeded to lecture us for 20 minutes on how much he hated our class while we where in the half way down position. The only time he stopped was to tell us that someone's back wasn't straight or someone's knees where on the ground. Then he would tell us we were sadistic because we loved the pain. Which I thought was ironic because he was the one causing the pain.

I thought it was funny, but I defiantly don't miss OCS.

... oh yeah, no matter how many push-ups or curl-ups we did, the most we could record for the PRT was the maximum. 87 push-ups, 105 curl-ups.

I agree its not about the numbers, but how long you do them and how you do them. Diamonds, making circles, half way, they have alot of variations of the push up.
